Today’s tour with mother and daughter Joanne & Sheree from the States 🇺🇸
Packed a lot into our 4 hour tour in the sun - so much that Sheree wants to live here

As a guide, some tours are a privilege to be a part of and today was one.
Lesley & John are from Ohio and Lesley has a connection to the island but hadn’t visited since 1964.
We found the retirement home of her grandparents in Colby and a neighbouring resident remembers her grandfather from 60 years ago. Her aunt actually worked for him !
We retraced all of her old stomping grounds which she remembers vividly from her childhood and then privately scattered her mother’s ashes.
A day I’ll never forget.

Laughter in the rain with Ann & Rosa from England whose first visit to the island it was.
We had a lovely time and - as you may or may not know - I love my horse racing. Rosa casually slipped into the conversation that her brother was Gerry Scott. He rode the winner of the Grand National in 1960 😃 🐎

Today’s genealogy tour with Tim & Maisie from Chicago who loved the island and were delighted in finding their 200 year old ancestry Caine grave at Jurby Church

Really fun day out on tour today with Richard, Ann, Heather and Dennis from New Zealand 🇳🇿 who were visiting the island for a day from the cruise ship HS Nieuw Statendam.
They were all a guide’s delight - up for anything, very mobile and full of banter.
Hopefully sent them on their merry way with stories to remember 😊

First tour of the year - Rayleen and Bruce from Australia 🇦🇺 who were here on business. They gave me just over an hour’s notice and two hours to cram as many sights, information and entertainment as was physically possible 😋

There was no extra charge for the cow intervention at Maughold 😎

Aidan is a catholic priest so he kept me in check the entire day 😎

I even managed to find her great grandfathers grave in St Marks cemetery!
