The historic tea clipper "Cutty Sark" is just one of the reasons to visit Greenwich in South East London. With the Autumn half-term break fast approaching, there is still time to plan a family trip to London. The area of South Kensington hosts a number of hotels and three world-class, family-friendly museums - The Science Museum, The Natural History Museum and the V&A. Also, just down the road is the Design Museum, currently celebrating the history of the Barbie doll. Good transport connections mean that South Kensington is also a great base from which to explore the rest of London.

The Longleat Festival of Light is an annual winter event held at Longleat House in Wiltshire. The festival features stunning illuminated displays, showcasing themed lanterns that light up the historic grounds. August 30th is the big switch-on date for this year's Blackpool Illuminations. The switch will be flipped by Spice Girl, Mel B and there will be a free two hour show on the promenade. Large crowds are expected for this event, but the "greatest light show on earth", along six miles of promenade, will be free to visit every night until January 5th 2025. Additionally, we have picked out a selection of hotels for you that are all within walking distance of the spectacle.
