A second YELLOW warning for strong winds has been issued by the Met Office. The warning area includes all of Lochalsh and Skye, except the far north-west of Skye. The warning period is 07:00 - 21:00 Saturday 21st December.

Westerly wind gust speeds of 50 - 60mph are expected widely. There is a risk of disruption to ferry services during the warning period. As ever, if you plan to travel in the warning period, especially by ferry, always check before setting out.

Strong westerly winds are expected to develop through the course of Saturday, with gusts of 50-60 mph developing quite widely across this region.

This has the potential to cause delays to public transport and some disruption to the road network, which may have a greater than usual impact given the busier pre-Christmas weekend travel. Dangerous coastal conditions can be expected too, with large waves an additional hazard.
