Did you know that we’re part of The Earnse Project? 🌊 The project is a partnership between Natural England, Westmorland and Furness Council, Cumbria Wildlife Trust and Art Gene.

The project, which will be delivered from Earnse Bay on Walney Island, will help everyone explore the wonders of nature on their doorstep and build bonds between people and the natural heritage at Earnse Bay 💚🤝 Find out more about the project here: https://tinyurl.com/27we2tjx.

The Earnse Project is currently in a one-year development phase, funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with taster activities happening & plans to build a community space due to open in 2026.

Do you live on Walney Island or in Barrow? Have your say on how the project develops here 👇

Women's Walney Wander
Saturday 13th July 10am

Join artist Sarah Hardacre for a journey for women through the life and landscape of Peggy Braithwaite, Britain’s only female Principal Lighthouse Keeper.

Peggy worked and lived at the South Walney Lighthouse and you're very welcome to join this gentle social walk around this unique and special local place in Barrow.

This walk is building on the success of the first walk on 15th June 2024, as we'd love for more women to be able to experience it. This is an inclusive event and we welcome all women.

This event is free but booking is essential: https://tinyurl.com/2hypf4ef

Walking the King Charles III England Coast Path 🌊

The King Charles III England Coast Path runs along the English coast - and we've got a beautiful section of this long distance trail right here in Barrow! Head to Walney Island, where you'll find a 16 mile section of the path. It takes in some stunning landscapes, with views towards Black Combe and the Coniston Fells; across the Irish Sea; and over to Piel Island.
