There is something quite magical and beautiful about the Autumn in the UK.
The fields are still green, the heather paints the mountainsides purple and the trees begin their transformation to reds, yellows, oranges and golds, providing a breathtaking backdrop to your holiday adventures.

Our most amazing beautiful doggy with super powers and zest for adventure - Leila was a ‘one of a kind’ doggy and I was truly blesssed to have her as my loyal companion, constantly at my side for over 13 years.

🏡💕🐶 You have been the star of Brecon Retreat and helped us set the standards for being truly dog friendly. From chief tester of sampling shampoos, dog beds to chomping your way through treats that passed it into the welcome baskets - we were the 1st accommodation to provide dog welcome baskets and now it’s expected across the hospitality industry!

You made it to the front of the newspaper and national magazines, when we won ‘Dog Friendliest Place to stay in UK’ 🗞️ 🤩📰

You starred in videos to promote the Brecon Beacons National Park as a Dog Friendly destination to explore 🎥 🎬

Come rain or shine we’ve explored together nature reserves, country parks woodlands, waterfalls, reservoirs, lakes, underground caves, castles, hills and mountains!

Who would’ve thought that at the grand age of 12, you would scoop rosettes in the local dog shows, winning Best Dog in Show! 🏆🥰🥇

I first met you with no hair, undergoing chemotherapy and you would snuggle on me for hours at a time to keep me company 🤒🎀. The only real time you would ever sneak upstairs, was to lay by my bedside, when I was really unwell 🛌 🤒 🙌🏼

In your later years, you used to sneak up onto the sofa and would get down before we’d come down in the morning. On more that one occasion you laid on the remote control and accidentally turned on the tv to the loudest setting and then would watch me sprint downstairs at 3am to turn it off and gave me that look to say ‘who did that’ 📺🙉😂

We’ve holidayed together in a range of places from camping and glamping to stylish hotels and luxury penthouses ⛺️ 🚌 🏨 🏠🏰 You even got us an special upgrade on our room when we stayed in Aberyswth as they all loved you so much and we ended up with the best sea views in the non-dog friendly part of the hotel 🌊😍

Our last beach holiday we bought a trolley to cart you back from the beach, when you got tired and you had everyone commenting on your swanky bright orange shark boyancy aid and even fooled the security guard as a trained therapy dog, so we could park in the shopping centre 🦈🧡🤣

Who needs a fancy Ring doorbell when you’ve Leila who sounds like a badass guard dog, you warned couriers before they’ve even had the chance to get out of their vehicle! 🚐👻 The house is so incredibly quiet without you, I even miss your snoring that used to roar through all the rooms in the house!

Leila, Thank you for enduring and tolerating a very lively puppy for the last 3 months. He’s got big paws to fill, but you’ve given him the best role model for him to aspire to. 🐶👑

They say that when you loose a dog it can be like loosing a human member of the family and I can vouch that the pain is equally as such 💔

What was supposed to be a happy anniversary bike ride for one of guests, turned into a rescue mission and being airlifted to hospital for an extended stay. Not quite the romantic start to their holiday that they hoped for! 😬

We’re delighted however, to report that after sustaining 8 fractured ribs, a leaky lung and concussion, she is now back home recuperating and expected to make a full recovery. 💐

🤗 A HUGE thank you to our friends at Brecon Mountain Rescue Team, Maritime & Coastguard Agency and Welsh Ambulance Services for their rescue efforts. It’s not the first time you have helped our guests and I’m sure it won’t be the last time either. We’re truly grateful!

To the peeps that are heading out to the hills - be safe! Be prepared for the unexpected, make sure your mobile is charged and that you can easily provide your location to the emergency services if needed.
