After many months of debate and discussion, the Ratcliffe holiday is finally booked...and it was not where we expected to be going AT ALL!
As you may know, my daughter and her partner are travelling/working in Canada for a couple of years. They were in Banff over the winter and, despite the skiing and the stunning scenery, this has proven far too long and far too cold for my sun-loving Sophie, so they have decided, this time, to over-winter in South America and do some exploring...starting off in Mexico.

Lakes and Mountains Holidays
A few years ago, when our girls were in their teens, we visited Slovenia for a family Lakes and Mountains holiday.
We stayed in Kranjska Gora, from where we could take some incredibly pretty walks, explore the Julian Alps, Lake Jasna, and Lake Bled. We also hired bikes and cycled over the border into Italy one day; and riding the toboggan down the mountainside was great fun - for some of us more than others! 😆
Slovenia is a beautiful country and is a very good alternative to Italy or Austria for an active holiday with stunning scenery.

Megan has been reunited with her sister!
Driving, first, from Vancouver to Kamloops and then driving to meet up with Sophie in Banff.
They all went off to spend time exploring Harvie Heights, near Canmore, and are now back in Banff - checking out Sophie's new abode!
There has been lots of hiking, kayaking, staring at incredible scenery and a black bear sighting!
My youngest daughter and her partner are living and working in Canada at the moment (hopefully not permanently! 🤞) and, on Monday, my eldest daughter and her boyfriend flew out to visit - dropping in to take in the sights of New York for a few days on the way.
So far, all the arrangements I made for them have gone smoothly and they are having a wonderful time!

Kalkan Regency
The Regency is a Kalkan legend. Loved by guests and the travel press in equal measure, this family-run hotel has raised the bar to the highest possible level in terms of friendly, professional service, delivered with a genuine smile in one of the best locations in Kalkan.
‘The best view in Kalkan’ is a title that many aspire to, and The Regency certainly has a legitimate claim to the honour, offering a wide-angle panorama of the harbour and the bay beyond from just about every corner of the hotel. Beyond the view, the focal point for most guests is the large swimming pool.

Last year, we were lucky enough to spend 16 days in the Bahamas with our friends.
We visited 3 of the many islands and had an absolutely unforgettable holiday!
