For the last couple of months of 2024 we had brilliant North Devon company, Mitchell and Dickinson, in to renovate the sash windows at Atlantic View. Anyone who has stayed and battled with opening the windows will be delighted to know that they now work as smoothly as butter with just a finger under each lifting hook to raise the sashes as effortlessly as when they were first installed in 1907.

With new pulleys, sash cords, weights, window furniture and draught proofing, as well as incredibly discreet secondary glazing fixed to minimal magnetic strips on each sash, the windows are good for a few more decades. Along with renovated external doors and upgraded roof insulation, hopefully not only will the Cornish wind be less noticeable but bills lower too.

Let’s now hope that, with rumours abounding that short term let properties will, in the future, require an EPC rating of C, with this, along with state of the art external insulation under the rendering and all light fittings changed to LED, Atlantic View will attain the required EPC standard.

Atlantic View Coach House was one point off a B rating when built and since then all the light fittings have been changed to LED, so we are confident that it is now B rated.

We’ve just completed the annual ‘spring’ clean and maintenance checks at Atlantic View and Atlantic View Coach House. Everything is gleaming and we are ready to welcome our 2025 visitors. Come and taste the delights of Cornwall. www.atlanticview.co.uk

We are dog friendly from 1st October to May 14th, when there is no time restriction on dogs going on the beach.

Humpback whale spotted and photographed by John Garthwaite off Rumps Point, North Cornwall two days ago. They are seen extremely rarely and usually only in the winter months, so this was a very special event.

True to my word I was vaccinated last Friday along with my husband John. Feeling a bit tired over the weekend and minimal tenderness at the injection site is more than compensated for by the fact that we are now antibody production factories and will be protecting both ourselves and those around us from Covid-19 in a few weeks time. As we have all been advised we will continue ‘hands, face, space’ until we are told that this is no longer necessary and we will continue to comply with all government regulations/restrictions. This amazing feat of human ingenuity and endeavour is something to really celebrate as we inch our way back to normality.

The current single, Softly Spoken Woman, was written by our daughter Rebecca, arranged by Hands of the Heron and Rebecca sings lead vocals. We are delighted to announce that we are working with ACT Studios to produce a new website for Atlantic View Holidays. We look forward to an exciting photoshoot in April and hope to have the new website up and running by early summer.

Our lovely caretaking team will be busy with annual maintenance during the current lockdown, preparing for when we are able to re-open.
Until then take care, stay safe, follow the rules and together we will eventually be able to get back to normal.
I'm certainly going to be vaccinated when that is offered.
Here's to a more positive year than 2020.

Having been forced by Covid-19 restrictions to change plans to spend Christmas and New Year at Atlantic View, at least we have the bonus of being able to pick and dig fresh vegetables from the kitchen garden at home in Kent for our New Year's Eve feast. Everything was harvested today except for the parsnips, which I had dug, prepared (Delia's Parmesan Parsnips) and frozen a couple of weeks ago but I have to admit that I don't grow garlic so I cannot quite claim that it is all home grown. Not bad though for the end of December!
It will be joined by a lovely piece of fillet of beef sent up from Cornwall by butcher extraordinaire, Gary Dutton, of Wadebridge and home-made béarnaise sauce. Delicious!

Atlantic View Coach House is available over Christmas and New Year. We hope to have clarity from the government soon about the rules surrounding families and friends meeting over the festive season. Once we know what is allowed please contact if you are interested in a Cornish Christmas or New Year break. The house sleeps up to 8, but clients will be required to comply with whatever rules are in place regarding households and bubbles etc. [email protected]

With implementation of the government’s rule of 6 this week we are working hard to salvage or rearrange our clients’ bookings over the next few weeks. Inevitably this has led to some cancellations or deferrals so please keep an eye on our availability page at www.atlanticview.co.uk for late availability, including October half term.

You can book for a group of 6 people from multiple households or up to 8 people from one larger family or support bubble at Atlantic View Coach House. With beds for up to 14 Atlantic View can still legally cater for a very large single household or support bubble, but if you would like to book for a smaller group, which must comply with the latest rules, please contact via our website and we will discuss an appropriate price based on the number of bedrooms required. Those not needed will be locked.

Atlantic View Holidays is up and running again in both Atlantic View House and Coach House. We have put in place changes to comply with Covid-19 requirements and updated our Terms and Conditions.
We are delighted that we are now almost fully booked until the end of October and invite booking enquiries from then onwards and for the last couple of available weeks in the Coach House in October. Please contact via www.atlanticview.co.uk
