CRANBROOK EMERGENCY CLOSURE

Firstly please excuse the makeshift line drawing. It’s much harder on my phone at home🤣 The green line indicates the route that will be taken.

This closure has landed 6 buses in a bit of a pickle - this is the plan, PLEASE read carefully so your child does not get missed.

5C
AM - All Cranbrook school students will be dropped at the high street (Congregational Church) They will NOT be able to be taken into school directly due to the bus turning into the 295 at this point.

PM - They will be collected from school as normal. The bus will then go via Oatfield drive to serve the high street.

267, 268
The buses will enter the high street from the opposite direction. Please make sure you or your child are at the church side of the road. The bus will enter the high street via Oatfield Drive. This means that the only stop that doesn’t get served is Cranbrook School. These passengers will need to board at the high street (Congregation Church).

295
Will start from the high street in the usual direction and continue via Oatfield Drive. Cranbrook School not served.

297
Same diversion for the 267, 268, 295 except it will also be unable to serve Dorothy Avenue & Golford Corner during this time.

269
The bus will approach from the opposite direction to normal. Please make sure your child is waiting for the high street stop on the opposite side to the church. Dorothy Avenue will not be served - please ask your child to walk to the high street.

I hope this all makes sense - I will be around to answer any comments/DMs until 2100 roughly.

Cranbrook High Street - 16/01

We have had a few concerns from parents regarding the closure of Cranbrook High Street tomorrow - the signs that have been placed on the road have not specified the times. The closure will ONLY take place from
19:00 onwards so the school buses will not be affected. The last 297 (due at 20:15) will take a diversion via Oatfield Drive/Stone Street and pick up/drop off any passengers at the end of the high street by the stationary shop.

Please note emergency closure of North Road in Goudhurst putting the 267, 268 and 297 on diversion until Tuesday at 17:0...

*UPLANDS BUSES*
We have received communications regarding an RTC between Wallcrouch and Wadhurst. We are sending the buses now to get into position early. Assuming that the accident is still in place at 15:15, we will go via the Lamberhurst/Scotney Castle roundabout, come past our yard at Flimwell and continue from there.
Students for Flimwell, Dale Hill and Ticehurst Primary School will be served as normal but on the opposite side of the road. Students for The Bell (Ticehurst Square) will be dropped at the junction by the Volvo Garage. Students may be expected home slightly late but you can track our vehicles in live time using bustimes.org.

*UPDATE*

We are pleased to announce that these works have finished ahead of schedule so from this point onwards, the usual route between Benenden and Rolvenden will be resumed.

IMPORTANT NOTICE regarding the 5C, 295 & 297

Please expect delays to the above services whilst they are on diversion. Cutting journeys is something we never usually do but unfortunately as always, KCC nor the utility company wanted to foot the bill for 375 miles worth of extra diesel being used!

Our Story

Former Maidstone & District bus driver and driving instructor Donald Ham and his wife Patricia established Hams Travel back in 1963 with only 3 buses.

With extreme hard work and commitment they have expanded their business to a fleet in excess of 50 vehicles.

Now after 50 years of successful business Donald and Patricia are now enjoying spending their time with their Grandchildren. The company is now predominately operated by their two sons along with their daughter, son-in-law and experienced admin team at our main office and depot in Flimwell. We are conveniently situated on the A21 on the Kent / East Sussex border.

Our on site workshop at our Flimwell site is fully equipped with all the facilities that would be expected from a leading coach operator.
