This contemporary extension to a grade 2 listed building in the village of Woolley just on the outskirts of Wakefield.

Woolley village itself is recorded in the Domesday Book under the name of ‘Wiluelai’, held by the Saxon Turchill. It is noted that at this time
there was virtually no cultivation of the land, and likely much of the surrounding land remained wild, with the name ‘Wiluelai’ (Woolley) being
thought to derive from the old English description of a wolves’ lair ‘Wulf-laye’, indicating that fierce wild animals ssuch as wolves may have
been prevalent in the surrounding land.

The building dates back to 1718 and is was built as a “Woolley first school”. By William Wentworth.

The simple infill of a lightweight glass structure between the main building and the outbuildings allows the building to function as a modern dwelling.

As a resident Tileyard North it’s great to see the latest building being unveiled as the scaffold drops. It will provide an additional 40000 sq ft creative space and further food and beverage offerings.

We are delighted to be starting on site this week with another community project.
Working for Denby Ggrange CAC and alongside Andy Turner again the project comprises a full refurbishment and extension of the existing facility to create a community hub for the local community.

Its been pleasure to have been working alongside Catherine Longley at Good Fundraising who have successfully helped the club raise the funds for the project.

architecture1B have intensive experience at dealing with community focussed projects and are able to assist with funding.

architecture 1B have recently submitted a full planning application for Broome Manor Golf Complex in Swindon.

The project comprises of improvements to the driving range with additional floors and food and beverage.

The clubhouse is to be partially replaced with a 75 bed hotel and reconfigured to accommodate the members changing area.

A new 7 a side football centre is to be added with clubhouse and 6 all-weather floodlit pitches along with 4 padel courts.

The scheme also houses an adventure golf course and aerial high rope course.

Additional car parking and solar canopies are also to be provided.

Architecture 1B have extensive experience in dealing with large scale leisure projects and golf / football clubhouses.
