A Bright Future for young people. We have a strong belief that all young people can have a bright future and our centre offers a specialised service, tailor-made to socially excluded young people who might not otherwise achieve this. Howard House is a new organisation that is seeking to address long standing social issues affecting disaffected young people. Our goal is to reintegrate this client g
roup back into mainstream education using our alternative education program. Where not possible, we aim to provide alternative pathways to training and apprenticeships via our centre based courses. To re-engage some of society's most disaffected, vulnerable young people in the process of learning by means of removing negative past experiences, making learning more enjoyable and increased self-esteem all of which help to improve aspirations and motivation. To equip vulnerable young people with the social, economic & workplace skills needed to become contributing members of society. This is becoming increasingly important, at a time of a rapidly competitive global workplace market. Providing Specialist Services. Each young person will be assessed before attending the centre. We will also liaise with all other professionals to look at any additional needs that the young person may have. If needed we have access to a range of psychiatrist's and counsellors and this will be incorporated in to a young person's Individual Educational Programme. As well as engaging hard to reach young people who are not in school or further education, Howard House will engage young people who are not attending any other services such as youth provision and are at risk of becoming socially excluded. Howard House has a wide range of skilled professionals with experience dealing with young people in a varying range of circumstances. Within our team we have professional community workers who have many years of experience of working with the most disengaged young people in society. Our program has been designed to target the deprived areas of the inner city. What is Detached Youth Work? Detached Youth Work takes place in the young people's own social setting and in their own leisure time. It is a process that is voluntarily chosen by the young person and is free from the traditional power based adult roles of many other professional services. Detached youth work engages young people who do not access mainstream youth provision or have little positive engagement with their local community. The relationship developed between detached worker and young people is based on mutual respect where boundaries are equally negotiated. By creating a safe space within their community to explore their problems, issues and possible opportunities, detached youth work has a high success rate. Education. Howard House is made up many different professionals who combined have worked with young people over numerous years. From experience, we have found that young people who missed out on education for long periods of time find it hard to catch up. This can lead the young people to lose confidence, lack the self-belief required to challenge ones self to reach their fulfil potential in assessments. All young people will be educated by fully qualified teachers in Maths, English and IT, this will be done at the young person's pace and with extra support where needed. There will be a strong emphasis to return the young people back to main stream education.
