Just south of the Wiltshire town of Warminster nestled within the most picturesque part of the Deverill Valley sits Southleigh Park, home of the Crockerton Shopping Centre and its owner for nearly 50 years. Historically there is evidence indicating that this site has been used as a clay pit for brick making since the 17th century and its bricks went on to play a big part in World War Two supplying
bricks for most of the regions army bases and barracks. Once the home of the Crockerton Brick and Tile Company until 1954 and now home to the Crockerton Furniture Village, Lakeside Garden Centre, Grays Flooring and Carpets and Doggy Stylz (Dog Groomers). The former clay pits have been reclaimed by nature and become 2 breathtakingly beautiful lakes, fed by a mill stream from the nearby Longleat Estate and flowing into the River Wylye that separates the grounds from Southleigh Woods. The old brick sheds still form part of the Furniture Warehouse, and the foundations of the old brick kilns were utilised in the foundations of the Garden Centre. Although the buildings now are a little old and tired (we like to call them “Characterful”) there is no detracting from the surrounding setting or amazing display of all the goods on sale at the site and friendly staff to assist you in anyway. Grays Flooring and Carpets offer a wide range of wood, veneer and laminated flooring as well as a huge range of quality carpets and lino. Kelvin Gray first came to work at Crockerton Furniture Warehouse at the age of 16 as a drivers mate and stayed on to build up a very successful business. Give Kelvin or his wife Jayne a ring on 01985 219 916, they will always be happy to take your call and we think you will be blown away by their fantastic deals.
