The team have arrived and it’s time for an afternoon of exploring and re-packing ahead of travelling to the Machame Gate tomorrow. We’re going up Kilimanjaro! 🥳 With signal relatively poor on the mountain we’re going to give you an overview of what’s happening each day. We’ll catch up properly in 7 days!!! We fly out to Tanzania 🇹🇿 tomorrow. Every year we have been getting increasing amounts of lost property unclaimed from our UK events and in 2024 we’ve filled a 90L duffel weighing 16kg. Fleeces, base layers, hats, gloves, waterproofs and even down jackets. As we’re affiliated to the Kilimanjaro Porters Association Project (KPAP) we’re always looking to support them where we can especially as porters on Kilimanjaro are often poorly kitted out so, this haul of quality kit will go a long way to supporting our team this year…..Thanks to you for loosing your kit, it won’t be wasted!

It’s absolutely ok to travel to and enjoy these places but not ok to be ignorant to the rules.

From the Lake District National Park website:
Barbecues and open fires are not permitted anywhere in the Lake District. Disposable barbecues are environmentally damaging, risk to wildlife, a fire hazard and often result in litter in the National Park. Most major landowners agreed to ban visitors from having barbecues or fires on their land to help look after our National Park. Please respect this special place and leave no trace.

We talk a lot about the National 3 Peaks but we also appreciate banging out 3 mountains within 24 hours is not everyone’s cup of tea so don’t do it 😜 Instead take on the challenge over 3 days, stay in a B&B each night, have a descent meal and a refreshing beverage and more importantly just climb 1 mountain each day. Don’t be fooled, it’s still a challenge, just not quite as time constrained and rapid as the 24 hour challenge. 3 peaks in 3 days gives you time to take in each peak and what it has to offer all whilst still challenging yourself to get the peaks done in 1 go, just a touch more leisurely. Just 4 places left Hurry!!!!!
In September we are heading back to Morocco for another ascent of North Africa’s highest mountain. Jebel Toubkal 4,167m although relatively high by UK standards is a great entry level peak for overseas trekking. With no technical skills or equipment needed it’s a perfect start to walking abroad. Over the 6 days you’ll spend 3-4 days walking and will spend just 1 night at altitude so it’s not too intense should you want to start off small.
