To celebrate 2 years of officially owning the farm and managing to keep up with the mortgage payments, plus being fed up with the wet we’ve escaped for some pre lambing R&R and our first trip abroad together in 9 years due to taking on the running of the farm nearly 8 years ago. We’ve left the next generation in charge!

That’s enough wet stuff falling out the sky now thanks!

Eggcellent news! The chickens are as confused with the constant weather change as we are and have started to earn their keep again. £1:50 for half dozen.

Who needs terriers when you’ve got this mother and daughter duo on the job!

This ewe gets stuck in the ring feeder every day. I wouldn’t mind but she’s the only one that’s not pregnant so doesn’t actually need to be in but has no friends to go out with 🙈
Not the only one stuck this morning though!

We had the sheep scanned the other day. Not our highest percentage but I’m kind of glad we’re not expecting as many triplets this year.
122 to lamb and around 230 lambs expected. Roll on middle of March 🐑🐑🐑

That didn’t go quite to plan 😂. Oh well at least they have food and it’s in the feeder to a fashion 😂😂 I blame the loose bales! The stuff on the floor behind is the old bale.
The ewes are not impressed I’ve driven past them with hay and not given them any. Sorry ladies, it’s scanning day so need empty bellies!

Yes it’s cold but with the right layers on it’s a beautiful day. This is much better than the wet and mud we will have when this cold snap ends.

We’ve lost another of our ancient apple trees 😔 it’s been hollow and leaning for years but still carried fruit last year. We’re fairly sure these trees are over 200 years old. We’ve been planting some new ones each year to try and keep the orchard alive for another 200 years.

Keep chipping away at the little jobs! Windbreaks going up ready for lambing to try and make the shed a bit warmer and drier. The proper barn windbreaks are not affordable at the moment but I found these rolls of scaffold netting at screwfix last year that won’t break the bank so we are trying that.
