I survived the cruise (or is that the booze) Woo Hoo and I have to say I am well impressed with MSC World Europa, the itinerary, and everything else that goes into such a ship and the brand. I’ve been home nearly a week now and guess what we have booked another MSC cruise out of Miami in January onboard MSC Seascape. Another class of ship we have not sailed yet and with it only being 2 years old expecting pretty much another amazing hi tech well oiled sooooper dooooper experience. Well I find myself thoroughly encapsulated by MSC hospitality (even though I know I’ve paid for it) but I have to say I’ve been off the radar with my daily posts due to alcoholic consumption (ex squaddiies will understand not sure about everyone else) how easy it is to be drawn into the drinking for GB and self gratification but here I am just a simple ex squaddie getting s**t faced on my own. 😵‍💫 I do however realise I have a blog to maintain so watch this space for my catch ups 🙏🏻

Hola Day 8

Today was a late arrival into Naples of 11:00am so we took advantage and ordered breakfast in the cabin. Truthfully it was just OK we got everything we ordered but the choice is limited and the coffee arrived tepid. We enjoyed another city tour this time for 2 hours and was really informative and very interesting. Back on the ship we indulged in a fantastic Mexican meal at Hola, the food and service were exceptional and we rolled out the door absolutely stuffed. We carried on rolling from port to starboard straight into the TV studio/ quiet bar which remained quiet until the Karaoke crowd came through the doors. Immediately woke up from my food fuelled slumber and was first on the stage (no surprise to anyone who knows me) though my rendition of Depeche Mode’s Personal Jesus may not have gone down well with the mainly Catholic Italian crowd 🎤👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎤🥹

Hola Day 7

A bit of a lie in today for our arrival into Genoa and the morning pick me up was enjoyed at the Coffee Emporium Very nice indeed and had in a take away cup as we were on our way to meet the city tour bus. A 45min tour pretty much shows the extent of what was there to see (not much) there was however a very noisy football fan convoy of Roma fans and an even noisier police presence who love to sound there sirens 🙈😵‍💫 so we returned to the ship to enjoy everything it has to offer, drinks, food, more sunshine and our favourite adult only pool Deck 18 at the rear (there are 2 pools actually port and starboard) but hey it was manic and was like a sea day for you cruise experts out there. Food for the evening was at Teppanyaki and was soooooooo tasty an absolute must if you ever have the good fortune to sail this ship.

Hola Day 6

Today was Marseille after surviving an overnight sail in choppy seas (warned beforehand by the Captain) which to be fair it wasn’t as bad as a bairns fairground ride 🛳️🤔 Marseille itself was a bit of a let down initially but it was the port area and highly graffitied. We carried on mooching around and eventually reached the marina which was huge and busy in the waterside bars, cafe’s and restaurants.

Hola Day 5 part 3

Wow what can I say MSC truly are an international cruise company we have recognised this week it’s inundated with South American Latino esq clientele and Jesus they know how to party it’s been absolutely fantastic plus another group who know how to party are the Irish and they were just as good, I’m hoping to survive the week 😵‍💫🥳🤪

Well it’s finally here our embarkation day Friday the 13th DOH! Didn’t think about that one when I booked 🙈 After a little bit of confusion at Tarragona train station regarding what train to get on we are on board and have a seat 👏🏻👍🏻 The confusion arose as there are 2 main stations in Barcelona Sant and Franc an hour apart apparently? To be continued at the cruise terminal 😊

Hola Day 4

Well a leisurely start to the day with a nice lie in and 2 ristretto coffee’s in the room to wake us up. Enjoyed breakfast in the hotel a very good selection of both hot and cold food, cheese + ham was my choice for today (it is my default option after all) thoroughly enjoyed along with more coffee 😊 It’s overcast currently but hoping the sun makes an appearance soon. Before I forget I want to mention all the staff at Restaurantes La Piemontesa which we had booked for 8:30 pm last night. A stones throw from the hotel in Placa Jacint Verdaguer I can categorically state I ate the best pizza I’ve had in my long 62 years. Thin base you say “Filo pastry thin” I say WOW it was a game changer.

Hola Day 3

Well today was again Scorchio, we’ve been on a mooch around the old town enjoying cafe’ lifestyle. Tarragona is a beautiful place with everything you need for an excellent little break away from it all. Great hotels on offer, a great beach and an historic old town, we’ve been lucky as the town is celebrating and is festival overload at the moment (lucky us) 😊😎

We’re here 🥳 train station Barcelona-Sant platform 12 to here in just over an hour 2 return tickets €34 total. It is a bit of a hill from the local station to hotel especially with 2 20kg suitcases to push up the hill 😵‍💫definitely easier on the way back. The suite as you can see is immaculate and (I never knew honestly) it’s right next to the rooftop pool and bar 🤪🍻🥂😇
