Episode out now
Rushden, Higham & Wellingborough Railway model exhibition 2024 was filled with amazing models of all kinds with the exhibitors being some of the most creative minds you could ever come across. This year, I've made the video a feature-length one to show the exhibits and the heritage railway as one epic experience.

Meeting Lawrie from Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels and Northampton and District Model Boat Group. Meeting a younger generation racing driver in the making and to top it all off. I received a grand tour of the heritage railway and preservation projects taking place by legendary Dave Chambers. Dave owns three, BRUSH Type 2 Class 31s. Two of which are at Northampton & Lamport Railway. I also join Dave on a train journey, as he takes visitors up and down the line (Twice) in a Class 142 pacer.
Big thank you to everyone who made the day an epic one but also helped me to create this awesome video. I hope it does you proud.

14th September 2024
Rushden, Higham & Wellingborough Railway Model Exhibition was truly an amazing event to attend. One of the many highlights was meeting special guest Lawrie from Lawrie's Mechanical Marvels. Lawrie's channel gained my attention when he acquired a Rushton shunter to restore from Redden's Scrapyard, Wellingborough. Not only is the locomotive a local one but it worked the yard at Wellingborough Wagon Repairs UK until it closed in 1983. In 1971 WWR UK was the first employer for my grandfather when he up-rooted the family from St Blazey, Cornwall.
The audio has been a nightmare to achieve an acceptable quality although it still isn't quite right so my apologies. The day I forget my directional mic is the day I really needed it.
The big video will be released Saturday 21st Sept between 7:30pm-8pm and don't forget this weekend is the BIG GALA at Northampton & Lamport Railway.

In regards to the Bassetts Close new skatepark.
Tomorrow Wednesday 18th September 2024 a council meeting to decide on the matter will take place at Swanspool House, Wellingborough. It is open for the public to attend un-announced but should you like to speak at the meeting then please follow the instructions below. This is because all conversations at the meeting are logged and dated. Best of luck to the lads who have been pushing for the new skatepark for the last decade.

Walking back through Wellingborough town centre, I passed a group of lads. One of which was singing. Now I've met a few professional singers (NOT KARAOKE!) so I can tell of a professional when I hear one. Turns out these legends will be performing at Castle Theatre, Wellingborough and go by the name of Queenz

One of the most amazing pieces of local history that I've discovered since my awakening five years ago. The Wellingborough Diggers were a group of men during a time of poverty, that decided the land around us can be utilised to provide abundance to the many people. Only problem was that all the land belonged to the rich and wealthy. "The Wellingborough Diggers" had to take it by force and eventually a beautiful declaration was signed.
I think that "The Diggers" would feel disappointed that this land is now owned by a corporation that won't even let you park on the road. Ironic that.
I have made a video last year with the legendary Jamie Brady and it's available on U.Toob 😉. Just type into the search bar 'The Wellingborough Diggers PurpleVision'.

Saturday 14th September
Whilst walking Wellingborough to Rushden using the old dismantled Rushden & Higham railway, I had just reached Rushden Transport Museum & Railway and heard two steam whistles. Two steam engines on there way to a steam rally in Bedford. Perfect timing! This video will be the intro to the Rushden Model Railway Exhibition 2024 video that I have filmed today.

Last night I released the big episode filmed with Ryan over the August Bank Holiday at Northampton Ironstone Railway. This is my favourite chapter of all. The restoration of BR Class 02 No.D2867 has now been completed. To my surprise D2867 has a Rolls-Royce engine powering the mechanical marvel. As the industrial locomotives rumbles the ground, it takes Ryan and I along the line in the cab and in the brake-van hooked up. Four scenes blended into this video and yes it was a challenge to edit but soo worth it.
The full feature length episode can be found on the main channel PurpleVision and by clicking this next link you can be directed straight to it. https://youtu.be/M-2YX0Ry8Wc
Thank you to Ryan for assisting and another massive thank you to all the volunteers that made Ryan and I feel so welcome.

Little Harrowden Church of St Mary, Northamptonshire.
Copy and pasted from 5churches.co.uk
The Church of St. Mary’s is a Grade II* listed stone building in the Transitional style, from Early English to Decorated; and consists of chancel, with south vestry, clerestoried nave of four bays, aisles, south porch and, until 1967, an embattled western tower, containing a clock and four bells.
The oldest part of the church is the main south doorway which dates from c 1195, and exhibits some good Norman work. This was the south doorway of an aisle-less 12th century church. There is also a smaller door of the same period, also on the south side. To this early building a south aisle was first added. Then early in the 14th century the nave was extended eastwards, a new chancel built, a north aisle was remodelled and extended.
Thus in the early 14th century the church took on substantially its present shape. The north aisle was built in 1850, at a cost of £600, this took the place of the one demolished at an earlier date. The organ was erected by subscription in 1876 at a cost of £150.
The tower was originally surmounted by a spire, but this fell in a storm in 1703 and was not rebuilt. The impressive Norman tower itself became unsafe and was demolished in September 1967.
The tower was replaced by a single storey vestry with a glazed tower arch and bellcote at the apex, housing the smallest of the original four bells.
The lower part of the gothic tower arch has been filled with a high quality war-memorial oak screen which has the names of the men from the parishes of Great and Little Harrowden that were killed in the Great War. Brass plaques added to the screen have the names of those men that perished in World War 2.
The large segmented fanlight above the screen is now the position of the recently commissioned memorial window by Meg Lawrence. The window was paid for by local subscriptions and dedicated in Oct 2010 by Bishop Donald Allister .
More recently the church has seen the provision of kitchen and toilet facilities within the south-west comer of the south aisle. The church has since 1997 gone through a process of major repair and renovation. This included repairs to external stone work, the reopening of one of the clerestory windows, replacing the lead roof on the main and south aisles and the introduction of a gas fired heating system, and an audio system with hearing loop for those using hearing aids. A new energy efficient lighting scheme has been installed which provides levels of lighting in keeping with the church. Much of this work has been funded by villagers and friends through the work of the St. Mary’s Heritage Trust.
