Handsome Lukka and gentle Lola came to stay! They had a wonderful time exploring the countryside and beaches.

Here at Chipley Escapes, we believe that if your dog is happy, you will be too so we provide cosy blankets plentiful treats, a proper feeding station with roomy bowls to suit all dogs, a place to hang their lead and poo bags, and a safe and enclosed garden to run around in!

If you want to bring your best friend, we would love to meet them!

Ps - we don't charge for dogs! 😉

Somerset ..........isn't she glorious? From the Quantocks to the beaches and the Somerset Levels towards Glastonbury and the starling murmerations at RSPB Ham Wall, there is something for everybody.
Many people just drive through this wonderful county and see it as a corridor to Devon and Cornwall. Not knocking Devon or Cornwall - marvelous places. But there is so much to see and do in Somerset. I'll let you into a secret......there are many people who live in this beautiful county who are very happy for people to not stop, just drive by. That way, they can keep it all for themselves. You see, there are less crowds, more open spaces and generally fewer people - you can breathe!

Dog friendly beaches? Somerset has got that covered!

Don't you just love a blowy dog along a beach in the depths of winter? We do!

All these beaches are dog friendly throughout the year but in winter, they are quiet with none of the crowds of the summer. And most of them have a lovely cafe to retire to to warm up with a hot chocolate. Sound good?

Did you know that the winter months are THE time for starling murmerations?? And just a short car ride will take you to RSPB Ham Wall, where you can watch this spectacular natural phenomenon. Take the dog for a walk on the Quantocks, stop for a leisurely pub lunch, and then head to this world-renowned nature reserve before driving home to Otters Holt at Chipley Escapes to light the fire and have a mug of hot tea and a homemade scone. Or maybe a glass of wine?

Anyone hazard a guess as to what these are? Hmmmm?

They are walnuts from the walnut tree at Chipley Escapes! We have had a good year this year and managed to harvest them all before the pesky squirrels got them! The dark skin has not rotted away and will be peeled off to reveal the walnut shell. We will crack these and put them in our simmering oven for 10 mins to dry out before packing them into sterilised jars and placed in the fridge to eat over the winter.

Last shout out for these two days next week! The weather forecast is looking good with no rain and dare I say it - sunshine! Just think you could be sitting on the beach eating fresh crab sandwiches and enjoying a pint of cider or enjoying the views from the top of Exmoor.

Ps: we welcome dogs and the pub is less than a mile 😉
