The tree is up! I was getting the Lodge ready for tonight’s guests and looked outside to see a nuthatch feeding from the birdfeeder whilst being watched by a blackbird. (Last photo shows them).
We still have availability in December and I won’t be taking the tree down until mid January!

We have added an air fryer (with liners!) to the lodge to make your cooking options quick and hassle free. And a little fold away table for board games or nibbles. We do listen to your suggestions!!

Weekends are available from 29 November all through December. What are you waiting for? You can visit Exeter Christmas Market or visit Hestercombe House to walk through their illuminated gardens. There are also lots of garden centres near us with great Christmas gift selections. Come to Hesperus to chill before the festive period.

Just a little update on what I’m up to - today took us shopping for ingredients in the medina and we went back to their home to be shown how to prepare a traditional Tunisian meal. We even bought bread from an amazing lady who was making it in an old traditional wood fired oven. Then we sat down to sample the fabulous meal we had helped to prepare. I wish I could have eaten more as it was all so delicious. This has been the highlight of our holiday. If you ever go to Tunisia look up Nabil and his wife on . They are the most wonderful, hospitable people who taught us so much. ☀️

I’m a little quiet on the Lodge page as I’m taking a wonderful break in Tunisia with my eldest child. Some beautiful places here and enough sun to invigorate me ready for the winter in Somerset. There are still weekends available from now until the end of the year. I can’t offer Tunisian sun but if you’re after a shorter break, maybe the log burner can compensate. It’s so different here to Hesperus but I still miss home a bit!!

Thought I’d share these lovely photos that this weekend’s guests took for us and use the opportunity to introduce our kitten Noo Noo. He was called Arthur but never really grew into the name so remains with his baby nickname of Noo Noo. He is a very friendly cat who likes nothing more than introducing himself to our guests, and trying to sneak into their cars! Don’t leave your door open or you’ll be taking a cat home with you, and I’ll be chasing you down the road as we love him very much. He will announce his arrival with a loud Maow Maow and is happy to be picked up and cuddled. Don’t fall for his deceptive patter and let him into the lodge as we try to keep it pet free for guests with allergies. Neither is he starving! He is well fed with lovely beds and a cat flap that he can come and go from our house in daylight hours. He’s just a con artist!

It’s log delivery day again. You lot do get through a lot of logs! We spend approx £1000 a year on logs. These are some lovely dry hardwood logs in a nice small size from should keep the lodge nice and cosy.

I know some of our guests talk about moving to this area. This house is so lovely with its own private woodland! And it’s in an incredible school catchment area. Well worth looking at if you’d like to move here. Just up the road from us.
