Zillertal Has Returned Home Safely
After a little over five years at the W&LLR Zillertal has now been repatriated to Austria. The loco departed from Welshpool last week and was transported by road and Ro-Ro ferry via Immingham.

As it has been rather chilly and miserable this week here is a picture taken back in May.
Winter or not work continues on the railway. On Friday the Track Gang will be working between Cyfronydd and Dolarddyn Raod and at the weekend the Fence2Fence Team will be at New Drive improving the visibility at the level crossing there.
Yes they are all going to get cold and or wet.

No Passenger Trains - But plenty of activity.

There has been plenty going on during this past week and this weekend there will be plenty of opportunities to take part in activities in and around the workshops at Llanfair. If you would like to join in just turn up - make sure you bring suitable clothing and footwear.

Golfa Bank

A photo from Katerfelto's Flickr pages. The Earl is seen with a goods train on the Golfa Bank about to cross the stone bridge near to Black Mill cottages.
It is dated 12th of October 1957, however, the line closed in November 1956. Suggestions as to the correct date are welcome.

Track Repairs

With the lineside flailing completed the Track Gang have spent the last two days undertaking various maintenance tasks including spot sleeper replacement. Near Dirty Lane it was deemed prudent to replace all sixteen sleepers under one length.

Thanks You To Everyone Who Has Visited Our Railway in 2024
The main operating season ended yesterday. Trains start running again in December - please come and see Santa. https://wllr.org.uk/events/santa-specials/
That doesn't mean that nothing is happening during November. On the contrary the Flailing Team re-started today and later in the week the Track Gang will commence their winter maintenance regime. Meanwhile in the workshops the locos and carriages will also be receiving some TLC.
