larating walks taking in the panoramic views, if you're lucky you might even spot a Red Kites or two. You will love your stay in one of our gorgeous yurts, featuring a king-size bed, sumptuous bedding and a log burner to keep things toasty with logs and kindling provided throughout your stay. Lanterns, fairy lights and bunting adorn the inside of each yurt, setting the mood for romantic evenings. Outside on the deck of each yurt, you can sit and dine alfresco from your Kadai barbeque. Paths lead you from your yurt to the facilities offering an extremely well-equipped kitchen, with a range cooker, American fridge freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer and Nespresso machine. Nearby are three shower rooms, one allocated to each yurt, with the ultimate shower experience. Fluffy towels, dressing gowns and complimentary toiletries are provided. All three yurts have a USB socket inside them for recharging phones. Rowan Yurt has a large whirlpool bath that connects via BlueTooth to your phone and massage jets, and is located near the facilities building, a short walk from the yurt. Oak Yurt and Birch Yurt have wood-fired hot tubs sitting outside the yurt on the deck, hot tubs will be heated to a temperature and ready to use on arrival and will be reheated each day.

Cader Idris is just 40 minutes drive from The Secret Yurts. It's a beautiful climb (we took the Minffordd Path) through woodland, past waterfalls, then rocky paths. Also the opportunity for a bracing dip in the lake about half way up 😊

Start the day with a walk from The Secret Yurts to the station Llanfair Caereinion, enjoy the festival and a train journey to Welshpool and back, and get a taxi back. Sounds like a great day - and we still have a yurt available that weekend! 😊

As you travel to us this week you will see hundreds of decorations painted by local school children, displayed on homes, businesses and road sides. The community has gone all out to celebrate a very special event being held locally this year!

Eisteddfod yr Urdd Maldwyn 2024 is the biggest competitive youth festival in Europe, and next week its happening 3 miles from The Secret Yurts near Meifod!

It's open to people of all ages and well worth a visit. Everything will be through the medium of Welsh, with translation available at some of the tents/events on the field. But even if you don't speak Welsh it's still worth a visit to see children of all ages competing on everything from singing, dancing, hair dressing, cooking, as well as a few hundred stalls, food village, live music etc.

You can either purchase tickets from the website or buy on the gate at the ticket booth.

More changes at The Secret Yurts!
As well as all of the yurts getting new stars, Oak has had a whole new cover. This was an opportunity to add in a window - something the yurts didn't have before. So now you can lie in bed and watch bees visit the bluebells, see the lambs and ewes in the field next door, or watch birds visit the stream just outside.

We have been busy over the past few weeks and have lots of exciting changes and new additions to share!

Let's start with stars - the sort you find at the top of a yurt.

Previously all three of our yurts had the stove chimney going out through the star, obstructing the view of the sky 🌞 , night sky stars 🌟 and trees 🌳.

Now the stoves have all moved to the edge of the yurts and the new stars give a clear view out while lying in bed 😊

An additional bonus is you can now lie in bed and see the stove fire glowing 🔥

This week I was treated to a day out on the Welshpool and Llanfair Light Railway, and I have to say it exceeded all expectations! We travelled from Llanfair Caereinion (an hours hilly walk or 5 minutes drive from The Secret Yurts) to Welshpool and back. The highlights? Firstly it has to be the friendly welcome by all the volunteers who run and maintain the experience. Without fail everyone went out of their way to make the day fun for all the visitors there. And it's infectious, as even most of the people we passed in gardens, fields and vehicles smiled and waved 😊 The views from the train were breath taking, from wide river valleys to rolling hills, and alongside sheep and cattle I saw heron, kites, buzzards and deer. The Tea Room is worth a visit alone, the cakes looked so good and the cream teas are legendary amongst our guests! And attached to the tea room is a very comprehensive gift shop, with a good selection of postcards and local/national souvenirs, plus one of the biggest collections of train related books etc I think I've ever seen! Next to the Railway Station is the Cloverlands Model Car Museum, the largest collection of model vehicles in the UK, again run entirely by volunteers. It's a growing museum too, with clearly displayed exhibits and plans for the future. Well worth a visit if you're interested in models, cars or trying to spot a childhood memory! Both the Railway and museum are VERY dog friendly too!
