Today is my last tour of the season and what better place to go to than Argyll's historic capital of Inverary, home of the Duke of Argyll, chief of Clan Campbell. Behind me is a wonderful example of a Medieval Celtic Cross. This will be my last tour until April next year, but I will still go and visit some interesting places around Scotland and I'll be sure to share them with you. πŸ˜ƒ

Today I'm in Freedom Square. Behind me is Glasgow City Chambers, opened by Queen Victoria in 1888. There perhaps isn't another building better than this one of giving you an idea of the wealth that once came through this town.

Back in Edinburgh again, twice in one week! Behind me is the headquarters of RBS or the Royal Bank of Scotland, a beautiful building both inside and out. Up until the banking crisis of 2007/8, it was the largest banking group in the world. Unfortunately, it was one of those banks that went bust and had to be bailed out with public money. These days it is still very big, but not quite as big as it was! πŸ™„

Today I'm back in Edinburgh. I'm standing outside of Mary King's Close. Named after a wealthy merchant burgess, this close or building entrance way has been a place where numerous sightings of ghosts have been made since the 17th C. πŸ‘»

This photo is from a recent walking tour in Glasgow. Behind me is Kenny Hunter's Citizen Firefighter, a tribute to the sacrifice paid by fire men and women internationally down the years. Also behind me is Glasgow Central railway station and Robert Rowand Anderson's Grand Central Hotel. Former guests include Frank Sinatra, JFK as well as Laurel and Hardy. Above the doorway can also be seen the crest of the Caledonian Railway Company who built the station in 1879.

On Tuesday I visited Inverary in Argyll, the seat of Clan Campbell. Behind me is the Vital Spark. It's not the original, but it's namesake was a boat that featured in the Tales of Parahandy, a series of books by local author Neil Munroe featuring the adventures of the a very similar puffer boat and her crew. However, she is probably best known through the 1960s TV series The Vital Spark. The 1990s remake featuring Rab C Nesbit actor Gregor Fisher is well worth watching too.

It's always nice to be in Stirling. Behind me is Rob Roy MacGregor, the famous Jacobite and Robin Hood type figure who defended the poor against the ravages of despotic landlordism. His long running fued against the Duke of Montrose was legendary. None of this prevented his sword getting stolen though. 🫀

It's a lovely evening to be waiting at the Wemyss Bay ferry/train terminal for the returning boat from Rothesay. This most picturesque of railway stations was build by the Caledonian Railway company in 1903 and is well known by generations of Glaswegians that have gone 'doon the watter' for their vacation in years gone by.
