Another wonderful 8 day tour with my dear ladies from Virginia, Debbie and Sherry. We lost the first day, due to their flight being postponed, but we sure made the most of the remaining 8 day, incl:
A return to their favourite castle of Dunnottar, fish and chips on the beach in Stonehaven, followed by a great market morning, with the great people of that town.
Urquhart Castie on Loch Ness, a day on the Ardnamurchan peninsular, out to the lighthouse, at the must westerly point of the British Isles, and a visit to
Mingary Castle, where you can stay and eat royally.
A return visit to the so special Glenfinnan and a great visit to the West Highland Museum in Fort William, who had a collection of Jacobite portraits on loan from Poland.
Then on to Glencoe and Oban incl the great castles of Kilchurn and Dunstaffnage.
CALMAC carried us across to Mull and Iona, with a superb visit to Maclean Duart Castle and the Abbey.
Back to the mainland and to Inveraray where they were shooting a film.
Pictish stones down at Kilmodan on the Cowal Peninsular, and return visits to raging Falls of Dochart at Killin and Balquidder.
Our final day took us to the Innerpeffray Library, the oldest lending library in Scotland, and the adjoining Kirk, which is the mausoleum for the old ancient Drummond family - the old Dukes of Perth. The library is quite magnificent, with some of the most amazing books and maps you could see anywhere.
The imposing Huntingtower Castle and the favoured town of Falkand, finished the tour.
