Enter via your private drive, to find a spacious three hectare plot all for you. Steps lead up to the main courtyard and inside, you will find the open plan sitting room and dining area. A wet and windy Sunday is the perfect time to plan an escape to somewhere wonderful. If you’re thinking of your 2023 holiday and wondering how to save money, here are some of my top tips!

⭐️ BOOK IN ADVANCE - spread your holiday cost overtime. To book a holiday well in advance I only require a small deposit. I can book most holidays around 12-18 months in advance depending where you travel to. As soon as flights are released you have the cheapest seats available to book. With our TC app you can make payments whenever you like making it easier to spread the cost out

⭐️ FREE CHILD PLACES - make the most of free child places. More options available the more in advance you book. If you are flexible on dates and destination even better

⭐️ USE INSET DAYS - all schools around the country have different inset days - so check these dates and if you can travel earlier or later this could make a big difference to the cost of the holiday

⭐️ FLIGHT TIMES - if you aren’t fixed in to travelling certain times then travelling on later flights or unsociable times could make a big difference to your holiday cost.

⭐️ FLYING INDIRECT - this would appeal to more long haul destinations to make it worth while. Some of the difference in cost by flying indirect can be HUGE. So if you are open to this could save here

⭐️ TWIN CENTRE HOLIDAYS - want to go away for 14 or 10 nights to a luxury hotel but prices are high? Why not split the stay with a cost effective hotel and a higher end hotel.

Talking about personal achievements isn’t something I’ve had a huge amount of experience in as they don’t come around that often, but this week I’ve hit a big one and become a ‘Gold Travel Counsellor’, putting me in the top 10% of the business.
It has involved hitting a pretty colossal annual target that, to be perfectly honest, I’d never even looked at as it felt so out of reach.
Five and a half years ago I started my own business from scratch with Travel Counsellors as a self employed travel consultant. Joe was only 2 and Eila was in Reception. The juggle was huge and I often questioned whether it was worth it.
Covid battered my business beyond anything any of us could have anticipated. I worked for zero pay for months and months looking after each and every one of my incredibly valued clients whilst homeschooling, taking on a second job and generally just trying to stay sane. In January I had my biggest ever month; travel was back, people were actually going away, and I dared to catch a glimpse of the figure I needed to make. From then on I knew this was my best chance and I had to do it. And I did🏅

The hugest thank you from the bottom of my heart to my amazing clients for your support, understanding and referrals, and to my friends and family for putting up with unanswered texts and promises of ‘next week will be quieter’, and also to Travel Counsellors for being the most fantastic company - there to support in the dark times and to celebrate the good times! Let’s hope there are many more to come!

++PASSPORT VALIDITY ++
For anyone travelling to Europe make sure to check your passport validity. Post-Brexit the additional months over and above 10 years no longer count so your passport validity will be 10 years from the issue date which isn't necessarily the stated expiry date. To be safe you can use the passport checker below. I was nearly caught out myself (expiry shows as May 2022 but actually expires August 2021 and we're due to travel to Greece in August!) and we are hearing lots of stories of devastated people who are discovering too late:

Today, many industry friends and colleagues are gathering in the UK for a day of action across the travel industry

We want international travel to return in a safe and risk managed way by properly implementing the Global Travel Taskforce’s traffic-light system, by expanding the Green list in line with the scientific evidence. The US and EU are travelling more freely and we are being left behind.

We NEED to bring forward a package of tailored financial support, including extension of furlough support, recognising that the travel sector’s ability to trade and generate income is much slower than first anticipated and more gradual than for businesses in the domestic economy.

Travel is my passion and I have and always will be there to support and help my clients but it is essential that we have airlines and Tour Operators still in business to work with.

After so much uncertainty we finally have some dates to work with:

12th April - Self catering holidays allowed in UK
17th May - Hotels in the UK open
17th May - Earliest point for International holidays (under review but I would hope by end of June at the latest)

If you’re keen for a change of scenery please get in touch as there are some little UK gems out there! Self catering will be allowed from April 12th and UK hotels will be open for an early summer break from May 17th.

I am confident some international travel will be allowed this summer and availability will be tight! There are some great offers around and with flexible booking it’s better to book early and change if necessary, than miss out entirely.

Looking further ahead, by 2022 the world should start to open up fully and we can make up for lost time! Prices are likely to rise so there’s never been a better time to get planning! It’s also never been more important to used a trusted travel agent and not go it alone.
