Couches Bream today.
Not the largest of the species but good fun on light tackle none the less.
Mark Hamnett of Cox & Rawle supplied me with some of there Wacky hook range to be put through there paces.
We’ve caught many a couches on J hooks and they always seem to be deep hooked. But using the Wacky hooks im happy to say everyone was caught in the scissors.
As we release all of our Couches bream this is far better on the fish and much easier for unhooking

The Weymouth po***ck competition

Yesterday the second of our 2023 Weymouth competitions took place.
A total of 5 boats entered and headed out to the horizon. The journey out was a little interesting shall we say, with a brisk Northeast wind up the tail and a short ride even Alton towers would have been proud of. But with the wind due to drop we all pressed on.
We all had a great day with plenty to banter on board.
At the end of the day there were 9 hopeful anglers that brought their fish to the scales for the weight in. As with all our Weymouth skipper comps only the 3 biggest fish take a prize and below are the 3 winners.

In 1st was our youngest competitor Billy Alder aged 13 with his winning fish of 11.12lb caught on Als Spirit.

2nd was Andy Cowdery with a fish of 9.14lb caught on snapper

And in 3rd was Will Smith’s fish coming in at 9.8lb again winkled out on Als Spirit.

Next on the list, 2nd June is the flat fish competition. Come and join us in Weymouth for a great day out

The Pirate Lures strike again!!!
Yesterday the weather was nice enough to let us get out on a couple of inshore wrecks.
Although very cold, the conditions were perfect. We didn’t have vast amounts of fish, but we didn’t expect loads from the wreck we were on. What we did have was quality though.
Below are the 2 best fish from our short session. Bring on the wrecking these lures are definitely making a name for themselves with the crews using them on the Rebel

SOME NEW TOYS!!!!

After meeting Dave from Pirate Lures at the Reel masters fishing show held in Weymouth recently, I am pleased to say we have partnered up to introduce his lures to the boat fishing world.
These lures have a fantastic reputation in the shore fishing community producing some great catches already.
We’ve only just started using them and and they work!!

Some great fish today!
After the latest blows and the very big tide you didn’t know whether to drink or plough the water today, very dirty but it is clearing daily.
Here’s Doug with a cracking Allis Shad. Very aptly nicknamed the May fish and here we are in May.
We had quick photos and this shad was returned as quickly as possible.
Alistair also managed to wrestle this lovely turbot from under the boat. 2 great fish and very pleasant day in the sun

Here are are a few highlights from yesterday’s cruise ship tours. We even managed to meet and greet the Disney Magic as she arrived in Weymouth bay, what a beauty she is.
Will and Harry made an appearance on every trip, putting on some great shows for our customers.
What a way to spend a Saturday!!

More back on the briney pictures!!

After having surgery it’s been a slow start to the season for me, but now I’m happy to be back up and running again. I’ve a few people to thank for this too.

Clarke’s boat yard for lifting,cleaning,painting and routine maintenance outside the hull.

Vasi southern for servicing and yearly maintenance on the engines inside the hull.

I’ve not had to lift a finger!!

Now the important stuff...... fishing!
As you can see we have been out on the wrecks enjoying the nice weather and finding some great po***ck. We’ve even had the first cod but being rusty yours truly neglected to get a picture 🙄
Another person I have to thank is Darren smith for helping me,running me around and making sure I didn’t do anything silly. Here he is sporting a po***ck caught on one one of mighty maggots supplied by our sponsor Allan Yates of Seabooms.com.
All of the Seabooms sponsored trips will be posted shortly so watch this space.
