Join us on Wednesday 18 September for a social walk along the Cleveland Way 👣🍃

The route takes in some wonderful coastal scenery as we stretch our legs out of Boggle Hole and head up along the Cleveland Way towards Ravenscar.

The Cinder Track is our return route all the way to Robin Hoods Bay. It commands outstanding views across the Bay and as a former railway line makes the return a steady descent.

As we drop down into Robin Hoods Bay we re-join the Cleveland Way for a last little rise and fall, dropping down to the beautiful tucked away Boggle Hole Youth Hostel, plus there will be cake and a cuppa waiting for you at the end!

The rich history of Staithes will come to the fore during this September’s Festival of Arts and Heritage with the première of a short film on the village’s fishing history, and a rare opportunity to be shown around the UK’s earliest saltworks in nearby Boulby.

The Festival, which celebrates the village’s long association with both art and the sea, runs from 13-15 September. It will see 110 artists, including oil painters, water colourists, sculptors, jewellers, ceramicists and textile designers, descending on Staithes, creating a unique selling exhibition of pop-up galleries in the village’s cottages and historic buildings.

Alongside the galleries, the Festival promises a full programme of music, including a performance by the Queen of English folk, Eliza Carthy, plus talks, workshops and events.

Heard of mindfulness, but unsure what it is? 💭

Broadly-speaking, it’s about having awareness of ourselves and the world around us in the present moment. Paying attention to the small things - can interrupt the ‘autopilot’, give a fresh perspective on life and slow our usual thought patterns.

You can be mindful during activity and at rest, and it’s even more effective if done outdoors, as nature has an additional calming effect on the brain.

Every September we get together with local businesses to create a month long mindfulness themed events programme, to help you de-stress and reconnect whilst surrounded by the beautiful landscapes within the North York Moors.

Dates available in August with us!

August is here, meaning it is the month the moorland of the North York Moors turns a stunning shade of purple 💜

Take in the scent of summer during August. Our moorland will soon be a magnificent purple blaze as the heather flowers, alive with the buzz of honeybees, damselflies, moths and butterflies.

Three types, ling and cross leaved heath, together with deep dark pink/purple bell heather, provide the most continuous and extensive display compared to anywhere else in England.
