Half term spidery fun at Danby Lodge National Park Centre this half term. 🕸🕷🕸🕷🕸🕷

Come and join in the spider hunt in the centre, while you discover some super spider facts.

When you get home you can weave yourself a twiggy web and complete our spider word search.

Just ask the team at the desk in the centre and they will be happy to help. There are many more trails to enjoy outside if the weather is sunny and warm, like today.

And the playground is open and full of fun things to enjoy.

We currently have traffic lights outside Danby Lodge National Park Centre whilst we are conducting electrical work from the National Park Centre to our main car park.

Danby Beacon shone brightly on Thursday 24 October, having been lit to symbolise the launch of a new partnership that aims to increase the quantity and quality of diverse, innovative and inclusive arts and culture in the North York Moors.

The partnership involves more than 20 creative organisations coming together to amplify and build upon the existing arts and culture landscape of the National Park. This collaborative effort will not only enrich the local cultural scene but also attract new visitors to experience and participate in the arts amidst the stunning natural backdrops.

The launch coincides with the installation of two new trails, soon to be open at Danby Lodge National Park Centre and Sutton Bank National Park Centre.

We're pleased to announce we have extended our Tramper offer at Danby Lodge National Park Centre to two sessions four days a week, Tuesday to Friday.

Danby Lodge National Park Centre gives visitors the chance to come and discover the beauty of the North York Moors National Park. The Tramper route explores the grounds of the Lodge; you travel into the meadow, along the River Esk to lovely views up to Danby Castle.

You can then cross the road to Crow Wood and follow the woodland trails looking out for the bird and animal life in the dappled light of the trees.

Mindful on the Moor festival 🌈🌾🌼🌱

What a great day we had on Saturday for our first ever Mindful on the Moor festival at Danby Lodge National Park Centre. During the day we had have a go pottery and craft sessions, fantastic wellbeing stallholders and free yoga and mindfulness workshops, it was incredible to see people of all ages getting stuck in!

The North York Moors National Park Authority is seeking an experienced operator to supply the catering service provision at The National Park Centres at Sutton Bank (Thirsk, North Yorkshire, YO7 2EH) and Danby Lodge (Danby, Whitby, YO21 2NB).
Both centres have established cafe style operations accommodating up to 200,000 visitors across both sites per annum.

Tramp around Danby Lodge National Park Centre with our brand new tramper! ♿🍃🌳

The scooter that has been designed specifically to cover rough ground including mud, grass, cambers and steeper inclines safely, allowing visitors with limited or poor mobility who have difficulty walking to explore iconic beauty spots in the North York Moors, has arrived at Danby Lodge National Park Centre for use on Wednesdays.

The tramper route explores the grounds of Danby Lodge; you travel into the meadow, along the River Esk to lovely views up to Danby Castle. You can then cross the road to Crow Wood and follow the woodland trails looking out for the bird and animal life in the dappled light of the trees.

Children’s books please!!

We are getting a lot of young visitors here at Danby Lodge National Park this summer. A favourite part of their experience is our second hand bookshop. Consequently, we would really appreciate any pre-loved children books you can spare.

If you can help, please bring them into the visitor centre where our friendly staff will be very grateful.

Our first ever Mindful on the Moor Art and Wellbeing Festival is coming to Danby Lodge National Park Centre! 🎨💭

There will be a mix of free drop-in activities and chargeable workshops, from have a go pottery sessions and hand embroidery to weaving willow sculptures, as well as stallholders selling an array of wellbeing products and crafts to browse and buy.
