The North York Moors National Park Authority is seeking an experienced operator to supply the catering service provision at The National Park Centres at Sutton Bank (Thirsk, North Yorkshire, YO7 2EH) and Danby Lodge (Danby, Whitby, YO21 2NB).
Both centres have established cafe style operations accommodating up to 200,000 visitors across both sites per annum.

Tramp around Danby Lodge National Park Centre with our brand new tramper! ♿🍃🌳
The scooter that has been designed specifically to cover rough ground including mud, grass, cambers and steeper inclines safely, allowing visitors with limited or poor mobility who have difficulty walking to explore iconic beauty spots in the North York Moors, has arrived at Danby Lodge National Park Centre for use on Wednesdays.
The tramper route explores the grounds of Danby Lodge; you travel into the meadow, along the River Esk to lovely views up to Danby Castle. You can then cross the road to Crow Wood and follow the woodland trails looking out for the bird and animal life in the dappled light of the trees.

This years race is full of the biggest cycling talent, including Tom Pidcock, the Olympic mountain bike champion whose Yorkshire born and bred.

Children’s books please!!
We are getting a lot of young visitors here at Danby Lodge National Park this summer. A favourite part of their experience is our second hand bookshop. Consequently, we would really appreciate any pre-loved children books you can spare.
If you can help, please bring them into the visitor centre where our friendly staff will be very grateful.

This Tree Belongs to Me! is coming to Danby Lodge National Park Centre on Friday 26 July 🌳
It's a very, VERY special day in the Story Craft Garden. The creatures are all meeting by the great tree for a party...it's going to be huge and everyone is invited, including you! The only problem is, there is one owl who is less than welcoming, especially towards anyone who looks different from him!
This highly visual show integrates Makaton sign language throughout and is packed full of enchanting puppetry, colourful characters, games, music and loads of interactive fun exploring the value of inclusivity as well as the importance of nature in our surroundings.

Danby Lodge has an almost-secret-garden. Visitors are in for a treat when they visit our terraced garden, which is to be found beyond the cafe and bookshop.
Lots of work is being carried out on this beautiful space. A team of enthusiastic and knowledgeable staff and volunteers are working on bringing it to life. Time, knowledge and money have been invested in a fabulous project.
Originally started by Lady Downe over two hundred years ago, it was part of the original shooting lodge.
We are so lucky!!
What an incredible place this is. Danby Lodge National Park Centre is fabulous all year round. But today …. WOW!!! The grounds are looking splendid.
Sculptures, terraced gardens, wild flowers and trees, playground, The Woodlings in Crow Wood. The sun is shining and there is nowhere better to be.
Come and visit us. We are open 10am till 5pm throughout the summer.

Danby Lodge National Patk Centre once again would like to extend grateful thanks to all our lovely visitors who brought their pre-loved books into the centre for our bookshop after the half term holidays, following our shout out.
Special thanks go to the donators of children’s books which, once again, have been much appreciated and well picked over.
So, if you do have any children’s books to donate, we would love to accept them.

We would particularly love to re-build our depleted stock of pre-loved children’s books. They have been very well picked over during the half term holidays.

On Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 June we’re encouraging people who live in or around the North York Moors to discover (or rediscover) their nearest National Park Centre for our community weekend.
You heard it here first… the brand new and much awaited adventure playground will be open for the first time this weekend! We are delighted to be able to share this news with our local community members, before we shout about it more widely.
