Today we got to visit the brand new Xmas ice rink at the Metrocentre. It looks amazing and well worth a visit if any of our guests fancy getting into the Christmas spirit! The decorations throughout the Centre are incredible this year AND Keith & I will be running some British Ice Skating learn to skate sessions too!!

It has been a really busy time at the Beach Hideaway. After having 2 of the windows replaced last year, the wall mended and fence built, this years improvements include the side wall rendering and a new drive!! It’s been very challenging fitting it in but I would say definitely worth it!! 🩷x

Our guests always ask for recommendations for places to eat! So we always try to visit the new places that are opening as well as re-visiting some of our favourites 😀 Horticulture is great for brunch and tapas as well as the most amazing cocktails. Sharing platters at Vineyard 72 are incredible and pizza at Pizza & Wine Project are out of this world 🌍 Nathalies Creperie also definitely worth a visit especially if you have kids, my niece loves to go. Cafe thirteen is fab and great for breakfast, brunch or lunch and I had my first visit to No Fret today which was really good too and loved the touch screen ordering too making a take out coffee super easy!! We also had our first visit to Little Lobo just off Park View in Whitley Bay! A Californian inspired Mexican taqueria and it definitely didn’t disappoint! We will most definitely be back.

We have been waiting for ages for Horticulture to open!! And luckily it didn’t disappoint! We enjoyed a spot of brunch and a cocktail or 2!! And just a 2 minute walk from The Beach Hideaway………Perfect 🩷

Another visit to Alnwick!! Last time we visited Alnwick gardens and the wonderful children’s world of Lilidori. This time, Alnwick castle. As well as special events and performances, there is so much to see & do at Alnwick Castle. Learn about its history and visit some incredible state rooms either on your own or in a guided tour. Learn about Alnwick castle as a film or Tv location, used in things such as Downton abbey but most famously for 2 of the Harry Potter films, and you can join in with broomstick flying lessons in the same spot that Harry took his first flight!! You can have a go at archery or visit the Artisans courtyard and Dragon Quest!! A brilliant day and just 37 miles from Whitley Bay.

Whitley Bay at its very best!! Our annual sandcastle competition!! Almost 200 amazing entries and all brilliant!! Well done to our cousins, the Malpiedi’s yet again on their win!! (The pyramids & sphinx) And well done to our niece Ava for her wonderful crab/octopus 😂😘 What a fantastic day!! Xx

Just 20 miles and a 35 minute drive from Whitley Bay is Beamish. Beamish is a world famous open air museum which brings the history of North East England to life at its 1820s Pockerley, 1900s Town, 1900s Pit Village, 1940s Farm, 1950s Town and 1950s Spain’s Field Farm exhibit areas. A full day of interactive history and highly recommended.

Yay! Blue Flags will again be flying over Whitley Bay beach after being awarded a prestigious Blue Flag Award again this year. An honour Whitley Bay has been awarded every year since 1994 🌊

Environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy have announced the winners of the Blue Flag and Seaside Awards for summer 2023 as the international Blue Flag celebrates its 36th anniversary.

The coveted Blue Flag is an international award bestowed on the cleanest and best-maintained beaches in the country, while the Seaside Award recognises the highest standards of beach management in England.

Among the criteria beaches are assessed against are:

🌊 Safety and services, such as first aid, lifeguards where necessary.

🌊 Environmental information including displaying details about local eco systems.

🌊 Water quality – Blue Flag beaches must meet the ‘excellent’ water quality standard as set out in the EU bathing water directive and Seaside Award winners must meet the 'sufficient’ standard.

🌊 Environmental management, including litter and waste.

Let’s keep the Blue Flag flying Whitley Bay!

Fab evening out in Whitley Bay last night! Lovely meal as always at La Casetta, cocktails at The Champagne bar and The Take That Experience at Whitley Bay Playhouse!! Always worth checking out what’s on!!
