🚨UPDATE THE ROAD HAS REOPENED WITH TEMPORARY TRAFFIC LIGHTS🚦🚨

PEAN HILL IS CLOSED. Kent County Council have closed Pean Hill to traffic today to deal with a gas leak. They need to dig a trench 1.2m deep and the HGV needed to do this excavation means they can’t safely operate one way traffic.

The road is likely to be closed until next Wednesday at the earliest or the 7th April at the latest.

Take time for you this March and enjoy a fabulous day of pilates, meditation, breathwork, a sound bath and much more on 15th March at The Marine Hotel with Catherine Vitality Chapman

Q: What do I need to bring with me?

You will need to bring an exercise mat and wear comfortable clothing to move and relax in. I advise wearing layers as we go between Pilates' movement to the SoundBath's stillness.
Please feel free to bring a water bottle, cushions, bolsters, blankets, eye masks, essential oils, crystals and anything else to make your experience comfortable and personal.

==========

How Much Does It Cost?

When you book before Monday, you get all the above and a free Well-Being Once Over with me for £123.

If you bring a friend along, you both get 22.2% off, which means you will be paying the bargain price of £95.69!!

==========

Is there a Guarantee?

I can guarantee that you will leave this day upgraded physically, mentally and spiritually. Some shifts you will be immediately aware of and some of the changes will only reveal themselves when you react to something in a different way than you would have usually - which is a truly magical experience.

Would you like to join us? Are you going to give yourself the gift of this beautiful day?

Do you have any other questions for me? DM me!

What are the "reasons" that your internal voice is giving you NOT to come?

Are they really true? Can you organise things another way so that you are the priority?

I really hope to see you on the 15th of March at the Marine Hotel Tankerton

Yet again SOS Whitstable create an amazing and important statement with these powerful statues.

Please follow and support their work as the continue to fight to stop the ongoing sewage releases into the sea.💩

Like the sea, we rise! 🙌

Have you been to see our sculptures yet? We’ll be sharing more about them, and the process from concept to completion (and their temporary home), throughout the week.

Also… 89 hours and counting of the current sewage release. EIGHTY NINE.

“Much of what happens in our oceans and seas is often concealed beneath its vast, endearing blue surface. It masks its fragility well,” says sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor.

“Over the past year, alongside the passionate team at SOS Whitstable, I've embarked on an important journey to create a focal point for one of the most persistent and insidious threats facing the UK's coastlines and waterways: sewage pollution.

“The simultaneous installation of this new artwork and Southern Water's release of untreated sewage onto the surrounding coastal area for a staggering 89 hours underscores the pressing urgency of the crisis.

“We are living through difficult times marked by strikes and protests, with many of our public services and natural resources being driven towards financial or environmental collapse. As these crises unfold, it falls increasingly upon local communities and ordinary citizens to champion their rights and safeguard the ecological balance. I hope that this artwork serves as a testament to their struggle and ongoing resilience.

“This particular installation is part of my Siren series. A global network of artworks that draw attention to marine issues, often hidden from plain sight, such as ocean warming, overfishing and plastic pollution. Originally intended for placement in a tidal area along the adjacent coastline, the project encountered resistance from local authorities and is now situated on private land.”

As the town says goodbye to Derrick West do take the opportunity to find out more about his life in Whitsatble at Whitstable Community Museum Group

Derrick West
We will miss Derrick's presence on the Harbour where he worked well into his nineties as an inspiration to us all. He was initially a boatbuilder and after national service went into fishing as many Wests before him and indeed after have done.

Derrick's whelk boat Floreat was craned into Whitstable Museum in 1997 and is being conserved for display this summer. Visitors can request a look under the tarpaulin to see how traditional wooden boats were built.

Please be aware … this is the best explanation of the forthcoming roadworks starting on Monday.

⛔️⛔️ ROADWORKS ON BORSTALL HILL 15-24th January ⛔️⛔️

A section of the Long Reach roundabout at the top of Borstal Hill will be closed next week for almost two weeks. This work is to attach the foul drain from the new housing development to the main sewage network.

Travelling up Borstal Hill to Long Reach Roundabout you will be able to turn left to Tesco and straight ahead to Canterbury/London Bound Slip. To get to Estuary View you will be redirected to Clapham Hill roundabout to come back to Long Reach to turn left.

The westbound carriageway of the Old Thanet Way between the Benacre Slip Road to the New Thanet Way and Long Reach roundabout may also be closed outside Harriet Lodge. Nightmare.

If you are travelling westbound from Tesco or Whitstable Heights towards Estuary View you won’t be able to get onto the Borstall Hill roundabout. During the works you will be diverted down the slip to Herne Bay and back on yourself!

If you want to travel from Tesco toward Estaury View you will have to cut into town and come up at Borstall Hill. As Millstrood Road is closed (again!!!) you will need to cut into town via Church Street or through Swalecliffe.

The highways engineer however thinks this closure will only be necessary if the engineers need access to a number of manholes in the carriageway - they don’t expect they will need to do this.

If you think the works will cause chaos to email your KCC Councillor [email protected]
