Just been finishing a number of jobs around the station including the new sign - to replace an old and rather weathered one at the end of the driveway - as well as finishing-off lots of other jobs such as replacing the platform lights, replacement of the picket fencing - and its painting! (weather permitting!)
Hopefully we're all ready for the new season....

Have been busy making a couple more station signs from marine ply for station grounds/ platorms. They're soon to be assembled and painted in the Isle of Wight Central railway colours...

Been working on some more signs for the station cottages. Thought it would be a nice idea to have them positioned in the cottages showing where the original parts of the station were.....

All of the engines that ran on the island were given names of local towns and villages. I thought it would be nice touch to recreate some of the engine name plates of some of those that used to pass through Whitwell - and display them in the cottages

Managed to un-earth another couple of pictures of the station in action from around 1920 - the top one looking north towards Godshill, and the second one looking south towards Dean Crossing and the St Lawrence tunnel.

It's always fascinating to see how the station looked 100 years ago!
Apart from the track, the only thing missing today is the signal box!

With all new windows and doors just fitted, the cottages are now looking terrific .....and feeling so much less draughty!

Well it's been a very busy start to the summer - with some pretty changeable weather at times! But today is glorious - the station looking much fresher with the newly refurbished canopy, telephone box and fencing.
Even the vineyard is looking a lot healthier after a very frosty April!

More importantly, Lola the labrador is constantly honing her meet and greet skills for welcoming guests!
