And so it begins… Yes, it’s that time of year again when you can get the famous sunrise burst through the hole of Durdle Door. There’s a bit of myth that you only have a very short window to get this shot but the truth is you can get it from mid November to mid January. I always aim for a weekday in November to avoid the crowds of photographers this shot attracts. It was a very bracing morning with even the cliff tops covered in thick frost - but that walk up and down the steep steps and cliffs soon warmed me up! I now have everything crossed we might get some snow tomorrow, fingers crossed 🤞

If you are visiting Kingston Lacy this Remembrance Sunday, please be aware we will be observing two minutes silence at 11am and will be laying a wreath in the parkland to commemorate the fallen. You will be very welcome to join us; we will move off from the front of the house at c.10.45am. We will also be joined by Dorset Military Enthusiasts, whose Second World War vehicles will be on show outside the house from 10am.

Corfe Castle is a historic fortress located in the village of the same name in Dorset, England.

Built by William the Conqueror in the 11th century, it played a significant role in English history due to its strategic location between Purbeck Hills and its commanding view of the surrounding area.
