This weekend is the Wi******er Books Festival and they have some fantastic events lined up for children (and adults!):
📚 Head to P&G Wells Bookshop on Friday (19 April) at 4pm to join local author illustrator Margaret Sturton who has an action packed hour of activities planned around her new book, a cautionary tale about a naughty girl called Alberta who did not listen to her mother’s warnings.
📚 On Saturday (20 April) there is a creative writing workshop with Chitra Soundar, whose books feature brothers Nikhil and Jay – and Max the Cat – who love to find out new things, join clubs and make stuff. They enjoy getting involved with lots of things at home and in the community and playing together. Inspired by Nikhil and Jay, participants will write about ideas for a perfect community day.
At the Theatre Royal from 3pm there is also a chance to hear from Lauren Child who will be talking about her new book 'Clarice Bean' as well as her writing and illustrations as she encourages us all that no one is too small to make a difference.
📚 Sunday at The Arc, Sam Sedgman will explain how mixing science, technology, engineering and maths topics with a gripping, fast-paced adventure helped shape his new book 'The Clockwork Conspiracy' and how it is an accessible, fun and friendly introduction to science for the next generation of inventors, whoever they may be.

Watercress has always grown wild in the chalk streams and ditches in and around Alresford and was probably picked and eaten, by the local people, for centuries.
Save the date for this year's Watercress Festival (19 May) where the streets will be closed to traffic to transform the Georgian town into a family-friendly FREE festival.
From street markets, food & drink stalls, cookery demonstrations with renown world class chefs, the Hampshire Farmers Market, a "Kids Zone" featuring falcon displays and circus skills, there really is something for everyone. For many the highlight of the day is Watercress Eating Championship which takes place at 15:00 on the main stage - a must see event!
