“IF IT SOUNDS TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE THEN IT PROBABLY IS”

There have been many instances of holiday scams over the years and in fact we, as Travel Agents, are just as susceptible. We have learnt to be wary of people phoning to try to book a last minute trip and wanting to pay over the phone with a credit card. We now ask for a bank transfer before confirming a booking, for any trips travelling within two weeks.

Reading the BBC News this morning there is another story about a £99 stargazing break staying in a luxurious glamping pod.

The worst thing about this is the fact that everyone looks forward to a holiday, no matter what it costs. It is an escape from everyday life, that we all need from time to time, so the disappointment when this happens is massive.

Fabulous short break in Italy for Sharron. One night in Rome, one of my favourite cities, followed by 3 nights on board Royal Clipper. Because they are smaller ships they can visit places the bigger ships can’t. We went to the island of Elba, Napoleon was exiled here from 1814-1815. (I can definitely think of worse places to be exiled) followed by a small Tuscan coastal resort - Porto Ercole where we explored the historic centre. Gorgeous weather and the usual Star Clipper relaxed style of cruising.

What a way to spend a long weekend!!
