Day 3 Black Forest & Vosges Tour. Rest or ride out day today, Stuart decided to take a trip down to Lake Constance while the rest of the group opted for the Black Forest ride out. We waited for the local mist to clear and then headed off. Straight onto the B500 from our hotel and what an amazing piece of tarmac it is, smooth with flowing corners what a joy to start the day. We managed to dodgy the rain most of the day, with just the odd shower here and there, but not enough to dampen the spirits. Not a surprise considering the roads are just wonderful and the scenery is just stunning. Stuart reported an excellent run down to Lake Constance and our day finished with a fantastic meal in the hotel restaurant. Off to the Vosges tomorrow and its forecast to be sunny and 30 degrees. 🤞👍👌

Austrian and Swiss Alps Tour Day 6. We headed away from the Austrian Alps today and west towards Switzerland for the 2nd half of our tour. Glorious weather again today, we have been blessed on this tour with so much good weather, 🤞 it holds for the remaining time we are away. We tick off our 1st two Swiss passes with coffee on the Fluela Pass as our last stop before we arrive at our hotel for the evening. Traditional potato rosti was the main choice, Gordon went for the mussels which were apparently delicious. Further west across Switzerland tomorrow ticking off some more passes as we go. 😁👌🏍

Day 9 Spain and Portugal Tour. We are heading back into Spain today, but not before we ride some of the wonderfully quiet Portuguese roads. Riding north east we rejoin the banks of the Douro River riding on the west side of this natural border between Spain and Portugal, photo stops done and its on to our first coffee stop. We had perfect riding weather with temperature hovering around 25 all day and glorious blue skies. The final part of our route taking us through the Montesinho National Park and across into Spain for our overnight stay in a Parador hotel. A lovely evening meal of local delacies and conversation about the wide variety of roads ridden during the day and the Picos where we head tomorrow.

Off to the Vecours Region today famous for the balcony roads and the Comb Laval arch, but not before we had some fabulous roads to ride through the Jura region, Massif de Bauges and the Chartreuse National Park. Past Grenoble and onto our hotel for the next 2 night in the fabulous Vecours National Park. Ride out or rest day tomorrow, wonder which will be chosen 🤔

Austrian and Swiss Alps Tour Day 5. Most of the group elected to ride the amazing Grossglockner and why wouldn't you with the spectacular scenery and amazing biking road on offer. Splitting into smaller groups everyone went at their own pace stopping for photos and coffee when they felt like it. Then back to our hotel just before a massive thunderstorm came through. Off to Switzerland tomorrow for more amazing roads and vistas

Day 2 Black Forest & Vosges Tour. Fingers crossed again for the weather and it worked! A few spits of rain as we left our overnight stop but the further we travelled east towards Germany and the Black Forest the more things improved. Our ride took us through the Lorraine region, across the Moselle River and into the Northern Vosges, a wonderful mix of roads today from sweeping bends to some more challenging roads in the Vosges. We had readings of 27 degrees as we took the ferry across the Rhine and into Germany, last coffee stop and then onto our hotel for the next 2 nights, right on the edge of the Black Forest and at the start of B500. 👌

Alps and Dolomites Grand Tour Day 8. A rest day at Lake Garda was the chosen option of some of the group, while the rest of us opted for the ride out. Off we set across the lake on the very efficient ferry service to head around the back of Mont Baldo, temperatures were hitting 30 degrees as we rode along the lake side before heading in land. A little hazy at the view point that looks back down to the lake from what must be around 1500 meters, photos taken and we head back to the ferry. Back at the hotel by early afternoon we headed out to meet up with the rest of the group for a couple beers by the lake side, tough life on a Columbus Tour😀. Our day finishes with another amazing meal in a local trattoria. 😋 . Off towards Stelvio tomorrow.

Day 8 Spain and Portugal Tour and we are greeted with a beautiful day for our ride out in the Serra da Estrela. This really is a stunning area to ride in, the scenery is amazing and the roads are quiet. We split into small groups for the day, but still bumped into each other during the day at photos stops and coffee and exchanged stories of what we had seen. Another great day's riding, tomorrow we head north east back to Spain.

Alps and Dolomites Grand Tour Day 6. Ride out or rest day, not surprisingly everyone decided to pick the ride out option. The roads and scenery in the Dolomites are really not to be missed, with a mixture of switch backs and long sweeping bends it really is a bikers paradise. Many a pass ridden, coffees drunk, and the odd panini eaten led to a perfect day. All finished off with a wonderful meal in a traditional trattoria.

Day 5 Spain and Portugal Tour had the option of a rest day or a ride out around the Costa da Morte. Two of the team decided to have a rest day and explore the wonderful city of Santiago. Visiting the cathedral, the associated museum and taking in the cities atmosphere. The rest of the group hit the road for the ride out option. Visiting the Virgin de Baca and then onto Cap Finestre which according to the Romans was the end of the civilised world and you can see why as the Atlantic Ocean disappears into the distance at the most westerly point of mainland Europe. As the day went on the weather cleared to give us a sunny day and perfect riding conditions as we headed back to our hotel, after a great day ridingaround the dramatic coastline of this corner of Spain. Fingers crossed the weather gods will be on our side tomorrow as we head down to Portugal.

Alps and Dolomites Grand Tour Day 4. Choices choices! Half the group decided to take a trip to Hitlers Eagles Nest while the rest of us hit the Grossglockner for the day. Glorious weather all day which just added to the spectacular views. A ride up the cobbles to Riders Point and then onto the glacier with lunch and coffee stops with wonderful vista's. The Grossglockner really is a bucket list road and the photos really don't do it justice and the best bit is we get to ride it all again tomorrow on our journey down to the Dolomites 👍🏍👌

Day 4 Spain and Portugal Tour and our journey continues west. We climbed the Puerto del Palo on a fabulous road which has wonderful views across the surrounding countryside. A stop at a hydro electric dam built back in the 50's and a fascinating lesson in the construction of dam's from Alastair. Onto coffee and across into Galicia, where the scenery changes to more pine forests rather than agricultural land. Some sublime sweeping roads with again a fantastic road surface took us to our lunch stop. We travelled on and reached our destination Santiago de Compostela where we stay for the next 2 nights in a fabulous hotel which is part of a convent and close to all the tapas bars and restaurants. Another brilliant day finished off with a visit to a tapas bar to sample the varied local delicacies. 😋.

Austrian and Swiss Alps Tour Day 4. Another beautiful day for a ride as we headed away from Bavaria and across into Austria. As we cross into Austria the scenery changes dramatically, riding with mountain peaks to each side beside lush green meadows. We soon hit our 1st pass of the day which takes us up to our lunch stop in a ski resort. Every time we come here there are cows randomly wandering along the main street oblivious to the traffic, just doing their own thing. After lunch it's a relatively short ride to our hotel, giving everyone the opportunity to use the spa and plunge pool if they wish or have a wander around town before dinner. We have a 2 night stay in Austria and the main choice for tomorrow's ride out is the Grossglockner and the weather is looking good 👍
