Last Call - this is TOMORROW (Sunday 15th December)

On Sunday 15th December we are opening Wisbech Castle for a FREE interactive family Christmas event, which is particularly aimed at families with younger children who love Santa Come and see the beautiful traditional decorations generously donated and installed by The Retreat Hair Salon. Bring the kids to take part in activities like making reindeer food and writing a letter to Santa, meet Christmas Elves and other Christmas characters as the preparations for Christmas continue. There is a rumour that Santa may even be in his grotto! ๐Ÿ™‚

How it works:
There are no tickets or timing for the event. Come to the Front Entrance of Wisbech Castle, between 11AM and 5.30PM, if there's a queue you can always try again later if you dont want to stand in line. A visit takes approx 30 minutes, and visits are limited to one per group.

Availability is subject to how busy the queue is, but we've made window of entrance six and a half hours to hopefully allow the maximum number of people to come and enjoy the festive fun.

Please note:
Because Wisbech Castle is an old heritage building, it is not accessible to wheelchairs and is not accessible for those who aren't able to negotiate stairs easily.

Hope to see you there!

This morning we had our first wreath making workshop. The ladies enjoyed a quick tour of the building before getting to work in the Fendick room creating some amazing wreaths. A coffee break in the Scullery before the finishing touches were put in place.
If you would like to hold a workshop, or even just rent a room for a family gathering, contact Wisbech Town Council .

This afternoon we have been hosting The Mayor Of Wisbech with a fundraising afternoon tea. The Rock Choir accompanied our very own Poshpaws for a few numbers. Thank you also to the local Air Cadets for being on hand to welcome everyone and show them where to go.

Plenty going on at Wisbech Castle today.

Trevor and Amanda and the garden volunteers are working hard moving and weeding and making plans for future garden surprises.

Meanwhile Steve Tierney acted as tour guide for our second visit from the Fire Service, who were great guests and who seemed to really like learning about the history and looking around the site.

Everybody is hands-on for the Mayor's Function this weekend, tidying, cleaning and preparing.

We had a lovely day today welcoming the kids and teachers of Clarkson Infant School to Wisbech Castle. They came in two shifts, the morning and the afternoon, but there was a lunchtime crossover where they had their lunch as a picnic in the gardens.

The children were exceptionally well-behaved and asked interesting and thoughtful questions. They seemed to have a nice time and as ever the highlight was the Vaults.

Thanks to the volunteers who spent the day helping including our Caretaker Trevor Ketteringham, Mr Glover, and our two tour guides Susan Wallwork and Steve Tierney.

One of the main reasons we all work hard to keep the Castle alive and thriving is for this sort of public access, particularly educational tours. The fact that these were a young crowd just made it better - the earlier children have an understanding of Wisbech's history and heritage the better.

Thanks all, it was a really nice day.
