A few transformation pics of a recent remodel. This was a 100 year old property that required full refurbishment. We replaced all windows and doors, remodelled the downstairs layout by moving the kitchen from the front to the rear of the property, removed three internal structural walls, opened up the kitchen/diner to the garden with bifold doors, replaced the kitchen, bathroom and added a downstairs washroom and office. We replaced all flooring and internal doors and redecorated downstairs. You can't beat a good before and after pic.

Simple ways to use less electricity at home

Does anyone else feel relieved when you look at your smart meter figures right now? We do! That’s why ATMOS’ Summer Savings campaign is all about using this time of year – when most people need less energy at home – to review electricity usage and think about reducing it. We’re sharing electricity saving tips each week so that when winter comes and you NEED to use more, you can be sure you’re being as financially savvy and environmentally friendly as possible. If you’re finding the tips useful, please do give us a like or a share so that others can benefit too 😊

This week we’re going back to basics: those small behaviour changes we can all make at home. They’re not groundbreaking and they’re not rocket science, however that doesn’t mean they’re always easy to do. Some say it takes 21 days to make a habit – so if you start making these changes now they could become automatic by the end of the month. Surely it’s worth a go?! Here are five simple ways to use less electricity at home…

1. Ditch standby mode – the majority of appliances and devices can be turned off at the plug without messing up their programming. This alone can save up to £60 a year, according to the Energy Saving Trust. If you’re unsure check the instruction manual. You could buy a smart plug which allows you to turn off several appliances and devices off at once, making this tip even easier to put into action.

2. Turn off the lights when you leave a room – again, so simple to do in theory but can take a bit of effort to consistently put into action. Remember the 21 day theory though and you’ll soon get there! Sensors for your lights are another way to help manage this.

3. Maximise the warmer weather to reduce your tumble dryer usage – use drying racks outside when you can, and move them inside when the weather doesn’t allow. Estimates vary but using your dryer can cost around £1.50 each time. It’s easy to see how that adds up over the weeks and months. If you do use your tumble dryer, make sure it’s for a full load.

4. Similarly, only running your dishwasher when it’s full will give you the best value out of each cycle. And why not cook bigger portions of meals, or multiple meals, and freeze the leftovers to make the most of the work your oven’s doing? Being super savvy in the kitchen can lead to some super savings in the long-run.

5. Finally, try to reduce your water usage. The planet will thank you for conserving precious water supplies, and your bank account will appreciate you spending less money on heating water. Only boil as much water as you need in your kettle and try to keep your shower time down to four minutes.

We hope you’re enjoying our Summer Savings campaign so far. To find out more contact ATMOS Electrical Services on [email protected] or 07375 378369. Working mainly in Wheathampstead, St Albans, Harpenden and surrounding areas, ATMOS Electrical Services Limited offers high quality electrical services for your home and workplace.

See you next week and enjoy the (hopefully) sunny weekend ahead!

It’s Christmaaaaaaassssss!!!!!Alpha Omega Contracts is signing off for 2022!! What a year it’s been with many ups and downs. A sentiment felt by many I’m sure. Just wanted to send out a heart felt thank you from our family to each and every one of you who has supported us through this year. We have met some incredible people in our relocation to Dorset and look forward to what 2023 has in store. Most importantly I’d like to say, I could not have done this year without my partner in crime Ralph Carter! The sacrifices you and your family have made will never be forgotten. Thank you. You’ve been incredible and can’t wait for the next chapter my man.

Merry Christmas everyone. Be safe, love, laugh and be kind. See you all next year. Finally, just sharing our last job of the year. A little inspiration for your homes next year?…

Always lovely to receive such positive messages from clients: 'Our building project included taking down a supporting wall to create a kitchen-diner, reflooring the whole ground floor and fitting the new kitchen. Richard and Ralph were professional and the communication was excellent. The work was completed expertly, within budget and on time and the result is exactly what we wanted! We highly recommend Alpha Omega'

It’s been a while since we have posted here, it’s been a busy few years for Alpha Omega and we are so grateful for all of your support over the years.

We have some news to share! Our family will be realising a lifelong dream to live by the ocean by relocating to Highcliffe in Dorset at the end of the July.

We will still be in Surrey to carry out occasional work for clients who have supported us over the years but would like to ask that if you know anyone who lives in the Christchurch/Bournemouth/New Forest area please help us spread the word.

We could not be more grateful for the work, loyalty and support you have shown our family business over the past ten years. On to the next chapter in Alpha Omega’s story.
