I do love books and travel books are no exception!

My favourite travel books are the DK Books series. They are so logically put together that I find them useful both before I go and on the ground while I am away. Books will often come with a handy map that you can separate and keep handy (I often have these in my back pocket!).

There's always so much information beyond the regular tourist trails. Guides on the history and religions of you destination really help you to learn more about where you are going and enjoy everything that a destination has to offer.

Oh, Canada!

Sometimes it feels like there's a bit of a theme to the enquiries that I receive and the last couple of weeks it's been all about Canadian lakes and mountains.

I've been working on itineraries for some lovely families hoping to head on trips that include the headline spots of the Canadian Rockies and also included the once in a life time experience of the Rocky Mountaineer.

Jasper has recently suffered some devastating fires due to a lightning strike earlier this year. I'm monitoring the situation and adjusting holidays to support the local economy but still offer clients the best from their holiday.

Last week my lovely mum headed off on a solo adventure aboard Ambassador Cruise Line's Ambience. Here are just a few pictures that she sent me from her cruise to give you a flavour of everything that she got up to.

The itinerary was a special Greatest Hits Radio itinerary with special guest star Ken Bruce.

The Cruise was a great success, stopping in Hamburg and Amsterdam.

Sailing on your own can be intimidating, but mum made some great friends and had an absolute blast.

Ambassador pride themselves on having the "Warmest Welcome at sea" and mum can certainly agree with this x

Happy Halloween!

Does anyone have a child completely obsessed with the Spooky Season. Annabel has always loved Halloween and I can imagine her in the future visiting each of these destinations!

Have you been to any on this list? I've visited Salem, Edinburgh and of course England. I'd love to experience the Day of the Dead in Mexico and Romania has always intrigued me. Adding them each to my list of places I must visit!

Today has been a gorgeous slow Sunday spent reading. I love reading and you will rarely find me without my kindle or a paperback stashed close by.

One of the things that I love about reading is how it transports you to another place. I've just started reading The Seven Sisters by Lucinda Riley. My gorgeous friend and fellow bibliophile Lisa Jane Elvish has been encouraging me to read this for a while, but at 7 weighty tomes I wasn't quite ready for the commitment until now. I'm just about ready to book a trip off of the back of this first book (no spoilers please - I haven't finished it yet!).

Years ago, James and I spent time in Rome spurred on by reading Dan Brown's Angels and Demons.

You all know that I love adventure travel. I adore it and realise how lucky I am to be able to explore all of these places. When I had the phone call to say I was going to Sri Lanka I didn't have time to over think or be nervous. I haven't travelled on my own since I did my year abroad with uni (and that's quite a long time ago!), so if I had time the thought of flying to Sri Lanka on my own would have been overwhelming.
