Sitting pretty ✨

Perching atop Lantern Hill in Ilfracombe, St Nicholas Chapel (named after one of the patron saints of sailors) dates back to the 14th century. It has been used as a beacon for years and still helps ships find their way into the harbour today. It’s a relatively steep walk up to the Chapel (free admission) but you are rewarded with spectacular views.

What we ate from the winter set menu👇

Starter:
Cured salmon, seaweed tapioca, dashi with wasabi

Main:
Venison with blackberries, cumin roasted carrots, chermoula, pickled red onion and dukkah
Potato rosti, roasted beetroot, spicked dukkah, crispy kale

Dessert:
Dark chocolate ganache, crème fraiche ice cream & candied walnut

What we thought 👇

The most unique combination of ingredients, we talked about how amazing the food was for days afterwards! The service is also faultless – the staff warm, welcoming and attentive. We can’t wait to return!

With a top-notch Sunday family sharing lunch it was a true taste of Devon seasonal produce and flavours.

What we ate 👇

Starter: sharing selection of cured meats and snacks, soup, natural ferment sourdough bread

Main: Kenniford farm pork, Exmoor brisket of beef, Beetroot, sharpham spelt, hazlenuts and horseradish
Served with roast potatoes, seasonal veg, cauliflower cheese, Yorkshire puddings and gravy

Dessert: sharing selection of puddings

The perfect way to kickstart the day ☕️

Our guests love to start their day with the perfect cup of coffee choosing from their welcome hamper either ground coffee for the cafetiere or a espresso capsule for the Nespresso coffee machine. Both coffees are locally produced and taste amazing!

Lunchtime grazing to afternoon lounging ✨

Set in the quintessential village of Lee near Woolacombe is a gorgeous traditional village pub with parts of the building dating back to the 14th Century. There’s a spellbinding flower filled garden in which to enjoy one of their home cooked dishes, a real ale from their own brewery or a Grampus gin distilled on site. After a morning’s adventuring in Lee Bay what more could you ask for?

Devon lately… ☕️✨

The new cafe & bar wins our restaurant with a view award, standing on the edge of the water at Ilfracombe harbour overlooking Damien Hirst’s 66ft tall statue ‘Verity’. Its large panoramic terrace and mouthwatering menu featuring everything from
West Country Mussels to The Lime Kiln Fish and Chips in a stylish setting and is fast becoming one of our favourite places to eat. After sunset, cocktails and live music take over.

Our guests love our superbly equipped open plan kitchen living space made for gathering, cooking and enjoying quality time together. We love to buy ingredients from:

🦐 - the freshest sustainable fish & shellfish caught direct from their own vessels keeping food miles from sea to plate to a minimum

🍋 - a large variety of fruit, vegetables and their very own onsite butchery

🥯 - delicious freshly baked sourdough and bagels with pop ups at or Croyde Downend car park

🍾 - we can’t wait for this boutique vineyard to start selling their wines to enjoy with our kitchen creations!

Cream tea by the sea is always a good idea 💫

My taste buds had their dreams come true with this amazing homemade scone, jam and vegan cream , a beautiful 19th century tea room in the oh so lovely village of Mortehoe. It was the perfect post walk treat after a coastal stroll around Morte Point and is set in beautiful gardens overlooking the village church and surrounded by National Trust land. Four legged friends are welcome too! 🐾
