which this year is from 6-15 September and is England's largest community led festival of history and culture, involving thousands of local volunteers and organisations across the country.

Ford & Etal is rich in heritage, community and history so why not visit us at Ford & Etal to learn about and see hidden gems and try out new experiences to explore. What will you be adding to your list of places to visit this September? Why not visit the stunning Pre-Raphaelite murals at Lady Waterford Hall (free entry) telling the fascinating story of the gifted person who created them Louisa Anne, Lady Waterford (1818-1891) or the ruins of Etal Castle (free entry) of maybe the traditional milling at Heatherslaw Cornmill (free entry 7 & 11 September). Today is International Dog Day - a reminder that both The Hemmel and The Granary are dog friendly. There are walks direct from the cottages and we have some amazing countryside, a national park and some of the most beautiful unspoilt beaches here in north Northumberland.
