Homildon Cottage

Homildon Cottage Self-catering holiday cottage for 8, bordering Northumberland National Park in peaceful & quiet location near Wooler. See www.northumberlandcottage.holiday

On the very border of Northumberland National Park, Homildon Cottage is an attractive traditional cottage dating back to the early 1800s. Sleeping up to eight, it offers seclusion and tranquility while being only 15-20 minutes' walk from Wooler. The cosy heart of this family house is a well-equipped kitchen with a large farmhouse table and cherry red AGA, a perfect place to share a convivial meal

or sample the local treats from the welcome basket. A comfy sitting room with vaulted ceiling and vintage wood burning stove offers a welcoming space to stretch out and relax or enjoy time indoors with one of the many board games. There is also a large flat screen TV and internet Blu-Ray DVD. A conservatory doubles as a light, bright and airy second dining space while a study comes equipped with a monitor and fast broadband to work or play. Or simply settle in a comfy chair, read a book and watch the rabbits and birds come and go in the garden! The house lies out of sight at the end of a short dead-end track – ensuring the only passing ‘traffic’ is the occasional walker or farmer. A large rear garden is a peaceful haven looking out onto historic Humbleton Hill, with a decked dining area seating eight. This and the neighbouring wooded wetland attract a wealth of birds and wildlife to your door. The Northumberland National Park is less than a minute’s walk away with St Cuthbert's Way within 1km. A separate stable provides a multi-games table and lockable leisure gear storage. The current owners use the property regularly as a retreat, and have updated the facilities to meet the expectations of today's holiday makers. Master bedroom with en-suite shower & toilet, a further double and twin bedrooms, while fourth bedroom is a striking beamed attic room. Newly renovated family bathroom. Third WC off the utility room. Well behaved dogs are welcome. For more information and pictures please contact Stay Northumbria or see Homildon Cottage's own website: www.northumberlandcottage.holiday

Nearby Wooler's Distillery and Visitor Centre goes from strength to strength!. It has recently been hailed by the renowned Smithsonian as one of the ten most anticipated openings around the WORLD in 2022!

The Smithsonian Magazine notes Ad Gefrin "will tell the story of this royal complex through a multimedia experience that blends audio-visual technology with archaeological artifacts—both some that have been excavated onsite at Yeavering and others on-loan from international collections. The center will be an immersive recreation of the great hall, utilizing projected films to bring to life the royal court and its residents."

Surely "proof" if any were needed that this distillery is putting Wooler on the map!

Scheduled to open this year are new institutions dedicated to African American history, electronic music and Nordic art
