Check out some of the amazing discoveries made and what we found out about this dreamy destination.

Where did you stay?

We ask her some Q&A's
Can you fly direct?
Yes, I flew directly with British Airways from Heathrow, a 10-hour flight straight into Male.

How do you get to the islands?
When you land, someone will be waiting for you. Depending on which Atoll you will be heading too, you will be transferred via a speedboat, domestic plane or a sea plane. Most hotels have a lounge area for you to wait in while the transport is being organised.
I stayed in the Raa atoll and went by sea plane.

Best time of year to go?
Interesting question, normally our winter period. However, weather patterns are changing. June was supposed to be low season but it was 30 degrees with no rain!

What should I pack?
Ladies leave the heels at home! In fact, it is encouraged to walk bare foot. You are after all on an island. Light clothes are a must and nothing too formal.
If you love to snorkel, take yours! The house reef and marine life is incredible.

Is there evening entertainment?
Where I stayed was low key. Most islands are laid back, there will be no nightclubs. Some islands are larger and have more going on. Ask us and we will be happy to suggest.

Will I get bored?
I must admit I thought I would, but there is lots to do. Early morning yoga, spa days, sunbathing, snorkelling, kayaking, paddleboard, day trips to see marine life.
Movies under the stars, lots!

Top tip?
If you are travelling by sea plane. Your luggage allowance will only be 20kgs.

Which atoll is best for marine life?
Baa atoll - Baa Atoll is a beautifully preserved UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and is world-renowned for its amazingly rich marine life and stunning coral reefs. Great for Manta Rays.
Lhaviyani atoll – Known for its impressive dive sites and green sea turtles.
Ari Atoll – area famous for whale sharks and manta rays, ideal for snorkelling and diving.
Raa Atoll – spectacular lagoons with thriving reef life, perfect for snorkelling and swimming.

What is it like for families?
I was genuinely surprised how well little ones were looked after. At Intercontinental there was a suburb children’s section. With an outdoor play area and pool. With lots of activities, some even educational. Taking families to the Maldives is not out of the question, in fact encouraged.

My top tip
I prefer choice, this island really catered for that. Plenty of choice when it came to restaurants and activities. If you are looking to experience the Maldives, think about what you like first because each island offers something slightly different.

Would I return?
10000% I’m not a lover of relaxing resorts but the Maldives is something magical. I was mesmerised with the scenery, the beauty and sheer scale. The stress will leave your body as you slide into island life!!! Try it even if it is just once.
