Lake District Retreats

We are now excitedly looking ahead to our at the Fitz in Cockermouth Cumbria on 3rd June.

All will be welcomed at this programme of creative art activities. Beginners will receive tuition and encouragement. More experienced artists will have time and space to develop practice, experiment with materials in a luxurious Lakeland retreat with delicious food using fresh local produce. All food, accommodation and activities included. Art materials provided for beginners but artists are also welcome to bring some of their own materials that they like to use. Although a full programme is planned there is no requirement to attend all sessions so participants are able to take advantage of an afternoon for local sightseeing if they wish to.

Prices for the Retreat start at £825 per person for two participants on the course who are sharing the same room. Single occupancy rooms for a course participant are £975 and for those non participating guests there is a fee of £625.

A booking fee of 50% is required on booking with balance due 8 weeks before the course date.

Here is an outline of the course content for 14th January - 18th January 2019.
We are really looking forward to welcoming you to Greta Hall Holiday Cottages, Keswick, The Lake District Yvonne Gainford Culinary Occasions Natalie Burns

Monday - getting to know you
Tuesday - focus on journals, materials, types of writing and famous diarists.
Wednesday - will include making pages, backgrounds, templates, altered books and lettering. We'll use our environment as inspiration including a walk into Keswick to collect material for inclusion.
Thursday - we will use our collected pieces to journal. Guest artist, Celia Burbushwill talk about her work inspired by Clarice Lispector as an example of how a journaling project may be thematic.
We'll finish the week with tips on sustainability and management and share our exciting plans for moving forward.

Working in such a literary environment we will be using some of the works of the romantic poets as inspiration.

Best known as the home of poets Samuel Taylor Coleridge and Robert Southey and visited by other literary figures such as William and Dorothy Wordsworth, John Ruskin, Percy Shelley, Sir Walter Scott, Lord Byron and John Keats this course will fill you with knowledge enthusiasm and inspiration. Fully catered and tutor led sessions over the course of the 4 days

We are excited to be able to share information about our first Lake District Retreat at The Fitz

We will be offering a Monday-Friday luxurious fully catered - a partnership between Culinary Occasions and very talented local artist and writer Natalie Burns Natalie Burns who will be on hand to offer tuition and encouragement. All food, accommodation and activities will be included.

All abilities are welcome at attend, and art materials will be supplied. If you would like to bring your own you are more than welcome to. More experienced artists will have time and space to develop practice and experiment with different materials.
