New recruit ! Ben loves our old International tractor- he’s been out ‘driving’ it a few times , every day of his holiday here ! 🚜❤️
Our lovely Welsh D Daz is losing his field companions as their owners have finally managed to buy their own land . So we are looking for one or two other horses to come and join him on our beautiful farm in Kingswood near Wotton-Under-Edge. DIY livery with field rotation, field shelter and tack store £25 per horse per week.
He's very friendly and relaxed with other horses and what we really don't want is for him to be left alone.

Our first outside grown asparagus- AT LAST! - 2nd photo shows size of the ones grown outside compared to the 3rd photo of ones grown in the polytunnel ! These were up beginning of March and now huge and gone to seed ready for next season . Sadly they were only on year two, so we didn’t harvest any to ensure plants are good and strong ready for cropping next season! Hoping for an extended picking season🤞🤞- delicious with hollandaise sauce made from eggs from our BHWT rescue hens - look at the fantastic colour! 🥚💛🧡
EXPERIMENT- asparagus growing in our polytunnel- we LOVE asparagus and so we are trying to extend the picking season by growing some indoors in the hope it will be ready earlier than the ones in our outdoor asparagus bed . Looking hopeful…This is second season growth at beginning of March and outside asparagus not even showing yet! Just a shame we can’t start picking from these until 3rd season - roll on next spring ! 🤞😋 Anyone else tried growing asparagus in a polytunnel ?

Tortworth Lake is private with no rights of access. However the estate would like to welcome the public to enjoy this special place on the first Sunday of each month from February to October.
Opening times for 2024 are:
4th Feb, 3rd March, 1st September & 6th October: 10:00am - 5:00pm
7th April, 5th May, 2nd June, 7th July & 4th August: 10:00am - 6:00pm
The lake can be accessed on the left hand side, just before the lay-by, as you approach junction 14 of the M5 from the Tortworth direction.
Dogs are permitted but must be kept on leads.
There is ample parking on site.
Unfortunately there is uneven ground in places and the tracks can be muddy so wheelchair and pram access may be difficult.
Refreshments are provided for sale each Sunday, except for February & March when there will be no refreshments.
Please note wild swimming is not permitted at the Lake.
Entry is free of charge.
Lucky to have lots of these nesting at Park Mill Farm . Regularly hear the distinctive fast hammering noise as they make their holes in the tree trunks and often see them in our orchard pecking in the ground for insects. Beautiful colours 💚
An old country name for the green woodpecker is the 'Yaffle' because of the laughing sounds it makes 💚
