Nepal expedition looking promising for next November 2024. Only Jugal V climbed this year and no permits yet requested for 2024. I now have a map of the region and have been looking at all the peaks and Jugal I (6,591m) looks feasible. Have sorted an itinerary and route in. The only issue will be as the peak is over 6,500m, we will have to employ a Liaison Officer to join the expedition (Nepalese ruling). This will cost the group an extra US$3,000. I'll keep you all posted as now looking at flights and dates (probably Nov 2-23).

10 years ago today, my first ever Unclimbed peak was ascended, Chhubohe. It has led me to 3 continents climbing many more first ascents. Very blessed to have been able to travel to do many countries climbing new peaks and walking where no one has walked before and sharing that with so many friends joining on these expeditions. Very poignant as I sit here in Spain with a ruptured right calf muscle looking at the mountains. Have a great day.

2nd update. Obviously very rare for government to release peaks in last 10 years so may all be climbed this season but we will keep an eye on the situation. At the moment, looking at getting a team together and then can discuss details after this November -December season. Cheers all.

Update on Unclimbed Peaks. Heights between 5,900-6,600m. Looking at November 2024 as this season too soon. Will have to check after this season if they have been climbed and then start all bookings. Just gauging interest at the moment.

I heard about the tragic death of Tom Furey yesterday whilst overseas and was going to wait until I was back to post anything but I thought it right to write something now in the moment as he was a valued member of the Expedition Wise team.

He lived less than a mile from me and we often bumped into each other out on a run, on the bike (he was always going much faster and stronger than me) or simply in passing in our vw vans.

I have worked with Tom over several years on cycle and trekking charity challenges as well as corporate training. I used to love watching the transition of initial disbelief on the faces of the corporate clients as they wondered why they were being briefed by a "teenager" to those of amazement at his knowledge, professionalism and general all round life experience. He was always learning and had a desire to be the best at whatever he did.

I write this looking out at the Dolomites and I know he would not be able to sit and look at them but he would be getting out on the via ferratas and the climbing routes with his endless enthusiasm and energy.

Tom was always the first to answer any emails about work positions and as well as working with me on lots and lots of challenges, also joined me on an expedition to climb a previously Unclimbed Mountain (Karbu Ri, 6010m) on the border of Nepal and Tibet in which he was easily successful. I distinctly remember him going for a run at 4,750m and a dip in the ice cold glacier fed river on route. That sums him up really, his desire to experience life, to have fun, to keep striving towards his dreams. A man who followed his dreams, what more can I say.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time.
