A lazy Sunday morning, then travelled in style to Llangollen for a climb up over the castle and return along the canal.

Just over 5 miles, lots to see, fab views and plenty of refreshment options in Llangollen. No stiles but sheep to watch out for around the castle so leads it is 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

Rain, rain, rain. Out with the puddle suit and off to Nant Mill for today's walk. Autumn is certainly on it's way although the leaves haven't changed quite yet, in fact - we were more colourful in our coats :)

A drizzly, misty day at Llyn Brenig today. It was a long walk at nearly ten miles, all on fabulous tracks. We started from the top end so hit the visitor centre about half way where we could have had lovely refreshments but Mum had packed some goodies already. I have no idea how I ended up as 'two-tone Bungle' with a muddy brown bottom half by the time we arrived back at the car, Mum & Dad not too impressed by that and I wasn't best pleased either as I had to have a shower as soon as we got home!

If you thought I couldn't get any cuter, think again! Look at what I picked up on our walk around Erddig this morning. I certainly wasn't going to give it up to the parents so quickly so carried it around for a while, to the amusement of passers by.

Still windy on tops so Gwydir Forest it was today. I had a fantastic time, off lead all of the way around and had a nice paddle with some doggie pals I met at Llyn y Parc. Everyone we met along the way were so friendly including a nice couple from the Netherlands and a lady from America - very international :)

Finished the day at the old church, Llangelynin for a short stroll before home.

Today is Mummy's birthday and with poor weather forecast for the afternoon we started early up Moel Famau to make sure we could still do the traditional mountain birthday walk. Easy walking on good paths and no stiles but the wind was fiercely cold for August! Quick brekkie at the top then home mid-morning for a lazy day. The parents are ordering in some tasty food for later on, wonder if I'll get a titbit?

Moel Famau is one of our favourite easy walks, at a push we can be at the top from Bwlch Penbarras in half an hour making it ideal for a morning or evening wander. There are better views and more exciting walks to be had elsewhere but this is always a pleasant one, can be busy at times though. 🐾🐾🐾

We stayed up a little late last night hoping for the skies to clear and see some aurora but it wasn't to be. That meant we had a bit of a lie in so stayed more local in the Clwydian Range with a heather filled walk and forage at Moel Gyw & Moel y Plas. Beautiful colours to be seen along the Offa's D**e Path.

Six miles, couple of stiles that I had to be helped over and only saw a few sheep and cows meaning I could be free for much of the way..yippppeeeeee!! A four paw walk, so long as the heather is in full bloom. 🐾🐾🐾🐾

Too hot for the mountains today, we make a last minute decision to head towards Beddgelert, sleep for a while then up early to catch the sunrise above Llyndy Isaf. Next was a cool stroll through the woods at Craflwyn up to Dinas Emrys, the legendary hill where the remains of a castle belonging to the ancient princes of Gwynedd can be seen. Some say that a dragon still lives there, but we never saw him today, must be sleeping. Finishing the day at Beddgelert with magnificent ice-cream while sitting in the shade by the river.

Walks info - Llyndy Isaf is an easy path up from Llyn Dinas, best done as part of a circular walk across the hill dropping to the Aberglaslyn Pass and return via Beddgelert. There's a previous post to look at should you wish. We just took the quick up and down today. 🐾🐾🐾🐾

Craflwyn has some easy waymarked pathways but what could be a few tricky stiles along the way. Nice waterfalls for cooling off and beautiful woodlands.🐾🐾🐾🐾

A very pleasant Llangollen-centric weekend. On Saturday we walked the canal with Pippin, Mummy and friends stopping off for a lovely scone at the Wharf. In the evening we headed back out and met Mr Farley for some photography at the panorama then this afternoon, it was back again for a walk to Pen y Coed from Llangollen. Thank you to Ingrid for help with locating the walk, it's a short distance from the town, up and around great woodlands. Finished the day with drinks on the decking at the Corn Mill.

Llangollen Canal Walk - very relaxed, a nice easy stroll as far as you like and back. Good to make a circular via Wenffrwyd nature reserve.

Panorama - fantastic views of the castle, dogs on leads for sure as there are lots of sheep.

Pen y Coed - short and very sweet, about 2 mile round trip from Llangollen, nice pathways, plenty to sniff and no stiles to contend with.

A walk over Castell Dinas Bran with Mummy and her friend on Saturday morning kick started the weekend then when Daddy got back home from work we packed up the van and slept out for the night... well until 3.30am when we woke to climb Y Garn for the sunrise. Good we started early as it got pretty hot and as you can see I was very happy to dip my face in the cool, and aptly named Llyn y Cwn. Back home and sleepy now.

Four paws for the 5 mile walk, a little steep on scree in parts but only for a short while and then steepsih steps down Devil's Kitchen. Only one stile and there was space for me to go under the fence, bigger dogs would find it a bit of a squeeze though! 🐾🐾🐾🐾

Dad's week off work so we took a bit of time out for a photo session testing out his new photography strobe lights. I look good, we should do a "collab" more often.

A full weekend, we camped in the van and had a chilled morning at Llyn Gwynant before Mum decided we should hit the Nantlle Ridge. It was steep up Y Garn and then I learnt to scramble over the rocks up to Mynydd Drws y Coed. By the time we reached the grassy top of Trum y Ddysgl, I needed a nap and settled down for a good snooze on Mum's lap. Finishing off, I found out that it's never a real walk in these parts without getting lost in Beddgelert forest!

A few stiles to get over, I'm using my parkour skills to practice getting over them myself. The scramble up Mynydd Drws y Coed may be a little tricky, it's certainly a bit spiky and narrows off, I needed a helping hand at times. Still five paws for this exciting walk! 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾

A day out with the backpack brigade to Llyn Crafnant with a refreshing paddle in the lake for me and there was a cafe stop off for fabulous looking cakes for the gang. I had a great time playing tug with Aneira & Osian, they are very good at it but I think I held my own πŸ•

Wainwright #32 Branstree

Last day in the Lake District for a while, no intention of going up another fell, we were just having a casual drive and simple stroll before heading home... yeh right!

Ended up at Haweswater and despite the showers Branstree wasn't far from the car. On with the puddle suit it was (don't want to be a soggy, muddy doggy all the way home) and up we went, passing a few pony trekkers along the path. The weather was pretty kind, path good and no stiles, just a little boggy once we left the main stony path. Four paws 🐾 🐾 🐾 🐾, extending further to Selside Pike if we'd planned better would be great.

Wainwright #31 Haystacks

"Wainwright's Favourite" After lunch in Buttermere we started late from Honister and headed off to find the Dubs and Warnscale Bothies. Up to Haystacks and then settled down to watch the sun go down before trekking back to the car via the Honister slate mine road. Let's just say I got a little dirty and being as I'm currently sharing a room with the parents, I've had to have a midnight bath which you can see I'm so overjoyed with!

The route is easy peasy, probably better directly from Buttermere to make it more interesting but I still had a good time and this made it really simple for us to get back safely after the sun went down. Three paws for the route. 🐾🐾🐾

Wainwright #29 & #30 Skiddaw Little Man & Skiddaw

We started the day with a slow walk and breakfast stop in Keswick so that we could head up Skiddaw late afternoon and stay for sunset. The stunning light, golden valleys and peachy skies just didn't happen, instead it fizzled out in dull cloud with icy winds. Still better than the last (and only other) time Mum & Dad came up where when they said they could barely see their hands in front of their faces for the fog.

The easiest of paths to follow starting steeply then levelling off. Three miles to the summit and then a slow plod back down. A four paws out of five walk for me, Skiddaw Little Man having the best of the views. 🐾🐾🐾🐾
