Not sure if you could drive to Disneyland? Honestly, it was super easy (she says, as the passenger ๐คฃ).
We took the ferry from Dover to Calais. We stayed in a cheap hotel in Dover the night before so that we could get the early ferry out without it being too early a start.
Driving in France was super easy โ you come off the ferry and youโre pretty much straight on the motorway. First the A26, then the A1, then the A105, and then A4 and itโs around 3hrs.
There is a toll on this route and this cost us โฌ24.70 (each way) and you can pay by card or cash.
Things to know when driving in France:
Motorway speed limit is 130 km/h (which reduces in wet weather). We did get a little confused as there were often signs to show the limit was reducing for sections of road, but this mostly seemed to be if you are towing a caravan!
There are plenty of places to stop for a toilet break and refreshments.
Something very cool is that you drive under the Paris CDG runway and if like us, youโre lucky enough, a plane will be taxiing just as you drive under!
You need to have:
โข European Breakdown cover and insurance
โข your V5C and insurance certificate with you
โข A warning triangle (in case of breakdown)
โข Hi-Vis jacket per passenger
โข UK Sticker (NOT a GB or England one)
โข Headlight deflectors (if your lights donโt do this automatically)
โข First Aid Kit
โข Spare Bulbs (while these arenโt a must, if you are stopped with a faulty light they expect you
to have a spare, so worth having!)
โข If youโre planning to drive into Paris, you need a Critโair sticker, which you need to apply for
โข Itโs no longer a legal requirement to carry breathalisers

I know a few people who travelled to Europe over October half term and were disappointed with the weather. I am often asked to find'somewhere hot' as a criteria. Sadly, I don't have the ability to predict the weather - my crystal ball has packed up!!
BUT, what I would say from lots of stalking on different weather apps, is that for the best chance of warm/hot sun during October half term, you'll need to travel slightly further afield such as to the UAE. Over the next couple of days, I will find and post some deals for both of these destinations! As always, I will make sure I also have school staff who can't take a cheeky day either side of the half term in mind, and make sure some of the posts are make are departing and returning during the break. For those who can leave/return a day or so earlier (there's usually an INSET!), then you will save!

Recently, I spent the weekend in the forest with a group of friends and we loved it! It was a @forestholidays break, and we went to Blackwood Forest.
Itโs such a gorgeous and peaceful setting; I find it quite magical. We stayed in the Silver Birch Pet free lodge, complete with hot tub (that gets cleaned each day, so donโt be startled if you look out and see someone leaning over into it!!). Not gonna lie, we didnโt really leave the lodge except for a woodland stroll โ we were there to catch up, eat lovely food and drink bubbles in the bubbles. And it was just perfect for this.
Itโs not the first time Iโve been to Blackwood Forest, and Iโm pleased that things like basic internet and TV is now included in the price. You do still need to pay extra for โpremiumโ Wi-Fi or to be able to stream from your phone to your TV. To be honest, given the price for the lodges, I do think this should be included.
The lodges have starter kits with dishwasher tabs, washing up liquid, a cloth, washing up sponge and recycling bin bag. There is also one toilet roll in each bathroom, but then youโll need to provide your own. There was also only the bin bag that was in the bin, and I think there should really have been a spare. There is also a cupboard with cleaning things like a hoover, broom, mop and clothes horse. If you are cooking, donโt forget basics like oil and salt and pepper etc!
The location is gorgeous and there are plenty of things to keep all ages busy. There are marked woodland walks that you can do and there are all also options to try (at an additional cost) air rifle shooting, archery, clay pigeon shooting, and an outdoor escape game. There are also Forest Ranger sessions and seasonal activities to try.
There is the Forest Retreat which is a small onsite shop selling all the essentials, plus some cute gifts. It also has a cafรฉ with plenty of food options if you donโt want to cook! We had a Tesco delivery organised to show up when we arrived
