Winter jobs #1

Running a glamping site isn't just a summer job, there are enough winter jobs to keep us out of mischief too.

Today Ivy and Andy spent 2 hours untangling a ball of bunting that knotted itself really badly in the washing machine. Next year they will be washed separately!

We are delighted to have our old firepits and bbq's put to a new use with 1st Helmsley Scout Group

They are based just down the road from our glamping site and it was VERY cold down in the valley there, with heavy frost covering everything.

5 firepits and 5 bbq's should help keep the scouts warm and fed. It's such a lovely setup they have.

The Flower Belt in Helmsley is an amazing place to go on your stay with us this summer. Just outside the town, 5 minutes from us, go and pick wild flowers, sunflower and more, plus grab a coffee, beer, pizza or ice cream while you're there. It really is an activity for the whole family.

You can take the kids off grid but you can’t stop them thinking about their online world. However, when they express that by building something outside, I’d call that a win. This made me smile today.

We have these giant jenga blocks, badminton, table tennis, actual tennis, cricket bats and acres of field for the kids to run around or cycle in while you chill out and take in the beautiful scenery.

Out with the old and in with the new. We have replaced our 7 year old tables and chairs with shiny new ones.

Each tent has it's own garden area where you can enjoy the views, have a fire and cook your meals.

Castle Howard is a great place to visit on your stay with us. There's action packed fun for the whole family, with an amazing children's playground, country house, lovely cafe, farm shop and a lot of acres to run around in. Only 20 minutes from our site. Hopefully you won't get the snow though!

Country Living Magazine have got it right. There is nothing nicer to do than camp out in nature, cook outdoors, have lazy picnics, walk in nature and lie around reading in the English countryside.
