I'm looking forward to meeting and greeting all the parents and babies this week to both Baby Sensory and Hello Baby classes!

I know lots of you will be feeling a little anxious about starting a brand new class, especially if you have never been to a baby class before. I thought it might be helpful to let you know some top FYIs.

Baby's 1st Christmas - TOP TIPS!
Just 5 sleeps til the big day... 😉

One of our top tips to make your baby's first Christmas enjoyable for everyone is to keep their routine the same.

Our founder, and leading parenting expert, Dr Lin Day, advises that too much change in one go can raise your baby's stress levels. This is why it is best to keep them in their routine as much as possible.

She also recommends only giving your baby presents when they are alert and ready to play, and sticking to their usual schedule for eating and sleeping where possible.

If you do get a little out of routine though, try not to panic or worry. Your baby will soon settle back into their usual routine, once the excitement of the festive period is over.

Just in case anyone needs to hear this!

It's completely normal to feel worried about returning to work after the birth of your baby

However, returning to work can be beneficial for both you and your baby.

Our Founder, and leading parenting expert, Dr Lin Day advises that "working outside the home can have a positive impact on a mother’s health and wellbeing."

She explains that "the stimulation of work and the social aspect of employment can increase the mother’s mental health, sense of control, life satisfaction and morale. In turn, this improves her relationship with the child, and the child’s emotional development."

🎄☃️Baby Sensory York is excited to announce their annual Baby’s First Christmas Parties are OPEN for booking! The Baby Sensory First Christmas Parties offer you and your little one a fun-filled, exciting way to have a memorable Christmas experience that is interactive and enjoyable for parents and babies from birth to 13 months old. Unfortunately, these parties are NOT appropriate for older children.

The First Christmas Parties will be on Saturday 7th of December at Clements Hall, York at 10:00-11:00 and 11:30-12:30, more classes will be added if the sessions prove to be popular. Tickets will cost £12.50 and include:

💚 Admission for two adults and one baby
💛 A present for the baby
💚 Christmas themed session appropriate for babies
💛 Christmas themed Exploratory Play Area
💚 ‘Photo Booth’ area with Christmas Themed backdrop

There are SO many ways you can play with your baby.

You may even be playing with your baby without realising.

Playing with your baby doesn't necessarily have to involve toys.

And it doesn't need to be a planned or prepared activity either.

Playing with your baby might include:

-playing or singing music or nursery rhymes
-reading
-showing your baby props* such as a chiffon scarf, rainbow ribbon or baby safe mirror
-tummy time activities
-splashing in the bath

The most important thing to know is that all types of play will be beneficial to your baby.

*please note that adult supervision is always required when your baby is playing with props and/or toys.
