The CEO Grenada Tourism Authority Petra Roach, and Marketing & Sales Manager Nikoyan Roberts welcomed Members of the Barbados Yacht Club to a destination presentation highlighting Grenada's upcoming festivals in 2024 and the 2025 nautical & sportfishing events.

Our corporate partner, Virgin Atlantic, attended to share information on flight schedules from Barbados to Grenada, as well as travel packages that include flights, accommodations, and experiences. The Caribbean market is experiencing exponential growth, with Barbados consistently ranking as Grenada’s second-largest producer of visitors.

“Intra-regional travel is rooted in our continued building of relationships with consumers and partners to celebrate signature events like the Grenada Sailing Week, Billfish Tournament, the Spicemas is We Ting summer revelry, Scents of Grenada, Pan in D Sand, and the Dive & Conservation, Maroon & Stringband, Chocolate, Dance, 1261 Film Festival, Corn, Rugby and literary festivals.” - Nikoyan Roberts, Marketing & Sales Manager.

“Just 12 degrees north of the equator, Grenada and its two sister islands, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, offer many ways to experience chocolate. …The largest island of the three, Grenada is known as 'the spice island' due to its abundance of spice plants, especially nutmeg. But what also grows here is cacao, the raw, unprocessed version of cocoa. In 1964, the founding of the Grenada Cocoa Association meant all cocoa exports had to go through the association to be sold abroad.” - Carolyn Heslop

After hundreds of years of exporting Grenadaian cocoa to traditional chocolate-making countries, David Laurence Friedman (known better as Mott Green), a New Yorker who had been living on the island, founded a ground-breaking business in 1999. Together with Doug Browne and Edmond Brown, Mott founded the island's first chocolate-making company: The Grenada Chocolate Company. Mott helped cocoa farmers increase their income by using their own cocoa beans to make chocolate, rather than selling it to the Grenada Cocoa Association for a fixed price.

Time Magazine names Silversands Beach House one of the World’s Greatest Places 2024.

“The island's newest accommodations include 28-key Silversands Beach House, a boutique sister property to the sleek Silversands Resort Grand Anse on nearby Grand Anse Beach. Architect Khaled Morgan positioned the panoramic two-bedroom suite and most of the Beach House’s guest rooms atop a cliff overlooking secluded Portici Beach; several cascade down the slope and five suites sit beachfront near the infinity pool. Arced white canopies resembling the sails of feluccas on the Nile shade the private terraces, collect rainwater, and blend the Beach House's indoor and outdoor spaces.”- Johanna Read

Grenada is Open!

“Grenada is open and the flights started coming back the day after the storm. Ninety-eight percent of attractions are operational and all hotels are open.
Our sister islands like Carriacou and Petite Martinique didn’t fare so well as every house was either damaged or destroyed. It will take a good while for that to be rebuilt but we will rebuild guild stronger and remain resilient.”

“As a tourism entity Grenada Tourism Authority has identified the importance of the travel advisors and the significant contribution they make to the GDP towards the tourism sector. Travel advisors are identified as a core link in the distribution channel for Grenada as a tourist destination.

Discover Grenada through Vivienne’s eyes! 🌴

"Grenada is committed to promoting tourism to the African diaspora, which is a plus in my book. Grenadians are fiercely patriotic, proudly representing the Spice Isle. When I praised their cuisine, a Grenadian friend quickly corrected me, 'It’s not just the food. Everything about Grenada is amazing.' Inspired and intrigued by their pride, I decided it was time to find out what makes this island special in their eyes."

Kaitlyn McNab, Teen Vogue’s Entertainment News Editor, received the Caribbean Tourism Organization’s Caribbean Media Award in the category ‘Personal Immersive Story’ for her immersive feature; ‘Grenada’s Spicemas Revolutionalized the Way I Think About My Blackness and My Body.” The piece which was penned in August 2023, was borne out of the Spicemas Press Trip Experience that McNab was a part of, curated in collaboration with the Grenada Tourism Authority and Industry 360 Ltd. founded by Tenille Clarke of Chambers Media Solutions and Melissa Noel of Mel&N Media. McNab reflected on her transformative experience with mas playing and its impact on her connection to her West Indian heritage.
