On the photo is Katskhi pillar, which is one of the main Georgian Orthodox symbol. This amazing monument is located in the village of Katskhi. In Georgia, we also call it "Miniature of the Greek monastery of Meteora" located on a pillar. It is located at the height of 40 meters, the monastery carries a special religious significance for the country.

Our pilgrimage tours are not a simple journey between monasteries. This is the discovery of new, unfamiliar ancient holy places.

🌸SPRING MOOD🌸 TOUR

Starting from April it is time of blooming flowers🌺, warmer days 🌞 and one of the best time for travelling in Georgia.

💐The slopes near the medieval fortress turn purple as the larkspur, also known as larkspur, blooms.

🐦Birds hide in the fields of Kvemo Kartli, in the thickets of poppies and magpies. Subscribers assume that the photographer noticed the oriole.

🤍Near the village of Norio, Gardabani municipality, there are chamomile fields.

GEORGIAN PROVINCE AND LAVENDER 💜

Lavender is considered a symbol of Provence, but not only in France this plant is loved: lavender fields are grown every year in different countries. In 2015, the small Kakheti village of Nukriani also turned into “little Provence” - there is a lavender field in Georgia.

The world has been familiar with lavender for almost 3,000 years: the first were the Egyptians, who used lavender for mummification. In the 20th century, incense was found in the tomb of Pharaoh Tutankhamun, which still exudes a lavender aroma.

Historians say that lavender spread to Europe thanks to the Romans. The Latin name for lavender, Lavandula, comes from the verb lavare, which means “to wash.” The fact is that in ancient Rome, dried lavender flowers were used as soap, they were added to baths, and they were used to wash clothes. Later, lavender acquired sacred meaning: it was believed that the smoke from burnt lavender branches scared away evil spirits. In the Middle Ages, lavender began to be grown in monastery gardens, and in the 11th-12th centuries the first lavender essential oil was produced.

Then lavender became part of perfumes, and also began to be used as a seasoning. There was a real “lavender boom” in Europe: fragrant lilac fields began to be built in many countries.

In Georgia, lavender was popular back in the 20th century: in the 70s, Telavi, the capital of Kakheti, had its own small lavender field. However, then they stopped growing lavender, and until 2014 no one thought of reviving this tradition.

Excursions with this beautiful location will begin in June, when lavender flowering begins. Beautiful landscapes with a glass of Kakhetian wine will await you and of course we'll enjoy lavender perfume.
