Mission accomplished: Christmas delivered!

Over the past few days, our dedicated crews have braved appalling weather to ensure essential freight supplies reached Guernsey and Jersey in time for Christmas.

With Goodwill alone having sailed 1,000 miles and shipped 294 trailers between the Islands, Portsmouth and St Malo, we have kept the festive season on track for our communities.

Credit to our crews on Goodwill, Islander, Clipper, along with Voyager and Liberation for their unwavering professionalism, commitment and determination.

To the whole team, thank you for going above and beyond.

Happy Christmas to all.

Mustard Seed Jersey, the Jersey-based charity, has been spreading joy through sending shoeboxes filled with gifts and essentials to those in need in Eastern Europe for almost 30 years.

We provide free transport to St Malo and the latest shipments are for Romania and Ukraine.

More than 2,000 shoeboxes have been delivered to Romania, with more on their way to Ukraine, arriving in early January – just in time for Orthodox Christmas.

Condor welcomed a unique VIP last week in the form of a Barnacle, Bill, a juvenile loggerhead turtle.

Found on a Guernsey beach after Storm Ciaran in November 2023, she was rehabilitated by the GSPCA, Guernsey SPCA

After resolving import paperwork, Bill was transferred to Portsmouth on Islander and is being re-homed at SEA LIFE Brighton, prior to her eventual repatriation to warmer waters by the Royal Navy.

We transport many types of animals so understand the importance of supporting organisations such as the GSPCA. It is a privilege to assist the team by helping carry this very special passenger.

All geared up! Thanks to a donation from our Community Fund, St John volunteers in Guernsey now have brand new uniforms so they can carry out vital first aid duties at events taking place throughout the year. These updated kits retain much of the traditional style but now feature unisex fits, press studs instead of Velcro, and lighter materials for added comfort in summer.

The uniforms are designed for layering, offering warmth with items like gilets, soft-shell jackets, and Hi-Vis outerwear. Volunteers Maggie, James, Isabelle, and Olly showcased the new attire last weekend at the St Peter Port Christmas Parade and lights switch on.

Sonia Pestana, supervisor in our Jersey port team, has been awarded the very first Jersey Customer Experience Alliance SMILE pin.

This highlights individuals who demonstrate outstanding care and is a symbol of pride and encouragement for everyone involved in customer service.

JCX Alliance founder, Claire Boscq, said: ‘Sonia embodies the very essence of what this campaign is about—going above and beyond to make each customer’s experience positive. It’s people like Sonia who help make customer service a truly impactful profession.’

Condor is proud to support Jersey volunteers Bob de la Haye and Rhys Perkins, who recently drove an ambulance filled with medical supplies the 2,200km to Lviv, Ukraine as part of a 35-vehicle convoy.

We waived fares and freight charges for their journey to St Malo and have transported several hundred tonnes of humanitarian aid from the Islands, destined for Ukraine, since March 2022.

The one kilometre nature trail that threads its way around the perimeter of the King George V Playing Field in Guernsey recently received a boost from a Community Fund grant.

Using the donation, Head Groundsman Stuart and his assistant Pete have been hard at work clearing paths, creating seating areas, planting wildflowers, and installing bug hotels to make the trail safe and nature friendly.

It's the perfect spot for peaceful walks through woodland, and it's dog-friendly too.

At the recently installed seating area are Stuart, his retriever Maggie, Ian from Condor and Pete.

Following a grant from our Community Fund, the Jersey Fortifications Study Group has installed signage at a WWII group personnel bunker located along the Five Mile Road in St Ouen, Jersey.

This small group of enthusiasts restores and opens fortifications across the Island for visitors and locals to view and the donation allows them to continue this great work.

This is all part of Condor’s continued support for local communities.

Condor Ferries was proud to host the recent MARINElife survey trip from Poole to Jersey. Here’s what they had to say:

"As we approached Guernsey, our crew mentioned spotting dolphins near St Peter Port the day before. After a few questions, we realised they may have seen a rare Risso’s dolphin – typically found around Cornwall. On our return journey, we were thrilled to spot one ourselves! Along with seabirds, dolphins, and breaching Bluefin Tuna, this was the highlight of an unforgettable day onboard Condor Liberation!"

We are honoured to once again, support the visit of the Fleet Air Arm to Guernsey this weekend.

The group returns to the Island every September to commemorate the 1943 sinking of HMS Limbourne and HMS Charybdis in the English Channel, when over 500 Royal Navy and Royal Marines personnel lost their lives.

During their visit, the team will play two football matches against local sides, lead training sessions at a local school and attend the remembrance service at the Charybdis grave site at Le Foulon Cemetery on Sunday, 29 September.

The trip is set up in partnership with the Guernsey Association of the Royal Navy, Royal Marines and Merchant Navy.
