The Andaman Islands and Nicobar Islands are located in the Indian Bay of Bengal, about 850 miles (1,370 kilometres) east of the Indian mainland and are renowned for their world-class diving. The crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral reefs, and diverse marine life make it a paradise for scuba enthusiasts. You can expect to see colourful fish, sharks, rays, turtles, and much more, catering to all experience levels, from shallow coral reefs to deeper walls and wrecks. Some popular spots include Havelock Island, Neil Island, Long Island, and Barren Island, known for its active volcano.

Sri Lanka is one of the best places in the world to see whales, particularly the giant blue whale, the largest animal on Earth. The waters off the south coast, especially Mirissa and Kalpitiya, are teeming with marine life due to a phenomenon called upwelling. This brings nutrient-rich waters from the deep ocean to the surface, attracting plankton which in turn attracts whales. The best time for whale watching in Sri Lanka generally runs from November to April, with the peak season being from December to March. During this time, you can expect to see blue whales, s***m whales, fin whales, and dolphins. We love boutique hotels such as Last House which sits directly on the shores of Mawella Bay

New Zealand's coastline is dramatic and diverse, boasting everything from long stretches of golden sand to hidden coves accessible only by foot. If you're seeking wild and rugged beauty, then New Zealand has much to offer. Piha Beach in Auckland is a favourite among surfers for its powerful waves and black volcanic sand. Lion Rock, a large, climbable volcanic plug, adds to the dramatic scenery. Further along the coast, Karekare Beach, is perhaps best known as the filming location for the movie The Piano and is a popular spot for photographers and hikers.

The Maldives, a string of stunning islands scattered across the Indian Ocean, is a paradise for beach lovers, marine enthusiasts, and surfers alike. While encountering whalesharks and manta rays depends on luck and the season, some areas are known for higher concentrations. One of the best areas in the Maldives to see whale sharks is the South Ari Atoll (Alifu Dhaalu Atoll). This atoll is considered the whale shark capital of the Maldives, where this majestic creature can be spotted year-round here, with peak season from August to November. Many resorts in South Ari Atoll offer snorkelling and diving excursions specifically designed for encountering whale sharks. There are now a huge array of places to stay across the Maldives and some of our favourites include Fushi and Jani, plus we can offer fantastic deals at
and the more sophisticated
both with a luxury Robinson Crusoe vibe.

Indonesia comprises over 18,000 islands so there are a raft of wonderful beaches to be discovered, but Pink Beach should definitely be on your ‘must-see’ list. It is also known as Pantai Merah in Indonesian, and can be found in Komodo National Park (famous for the prehistoric-looking dragon). This famous beach gets its pink hue from millions of red coral fragments. It's one of only seven pink beaches found in the world, making it a truly unique natural wonder. The beach can only be reached by boat from Labuan Bajo, the main town on Flores Island (with its crater lakes) but the good news is that we can book you a cabin aboard a luxury boat or charter a phinisi to explore these islands.

The Moroccan coast might not be described as a beach paradise but the crashing waves in the south provide a fantastic opportunity for surfing, kitesurfing, and windsurfing. The charming fishing port of Essaouira has a wonderful arts scene with gnaoua music reverberating through the medina. There are several interesting places to explore, from L’Heure Bleue in the quaint fishing village of Essaouira to the beautiful
and .ocean just south of Tangier which are some of our favourites.

Halong Bay in Vietnam is known for its dramatic limestone formations jutting out of the emerald waters, but there are also some beautiful remote beaches if you’re looking to explore. Bai Tu Long Bay is located to the northeast of Halong Bay and is less frequented by tourists and boasts several secluded beaches. One such beach is Cong Dam Beach which has a pure and untouched atmosphere, making it ideal for exploring coral reefs, underwater caves, and lakes within the limestone mountains. To make the most of this remote location we suggest arriving by seaplane. We can also provide you with a guide to navigate the sea, via junk boat. It provides the perfect backdrop for a peaceful and exclusive beach experience.

The secluded bay in the Musandam Peninsula of Oman is known for its dramatic mountains and crystal-clear waters, making it a great place for hiking, diving, and snorkelling. Our favourite place to stay here is with its 1.6 kilometre stretch of sandy beach. This award-winning resort is designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding environment, featuring traditional Omani architecture and locally-sourced materials. We love the luxury villas with their own private pool, sundeck, and stunning views of the bay.

It might not seem obvious, but Iceland has many beautiful beaches. Granted, they're not the typical white sand beaches, in fact most of Iceland's beaches are made up of black sand comprising basalt rock eroded by the powerful waves of the Atlantic Ocean. Reynisfjara Beach is one of the island’s most iconic beaches on the South Coast and is known for its dramatic black sand, basalt columns jutting out of the ocean, and powerful waves. Just offshore are Reynisdrangar, sea stacks that according to legend were once trolls turned to stone! We loved staying at
which is near the south shore and from here we can arrange pony trekking with Icelandic ponies.

If you remember the Alex Garland book The Beach, from the late 1990s, you’ll know that Thailand has a great many fantastic hidden beaches to be discovered. There are of course the famous ones which featured in the James Bond movie The Man with the Golden Gun, with their limestone karst towers - which are a part of Ao Phang Nga National Park - but we love
Nang Thong Beach near Khao Lak. This is a popular and easily accessible beach known for its laid-back atmosphere and offers a long stretch of pristine white sand with calm, clear waters. It’s perfect for swimming, sunbathing, and water sports. There’s also Tham Nam Beach; this hidden beach is a true gem. Accessible only by boat, Tham Nam Beach is a small cove nestled between towering limestone cliffs. It’s wonderful to photograph or just simply drift along in a longtail boat.

Whilst Iceland has unpredictable weather as it is even possible to experience all 4 seasons in one day, the peak months are June-August, when the days are long and warmer. However, we think September-April is the best time to see the Northern Lights (particularly around the equinoxes in February/March or September/October). Even if you missed the Northern Lights when they were in the UK back in May, we can assign you with a personal guide who will track the Northern Lights each evening and take you to the best place to see them when the night sky is the perfect backdrop for the green and sometimes red lights swirling high above.
In Iceland’s capital city, Reykjavik you are spoilt for choice of where to stay. We loved the , and which is part of the , but there are options for every budget.

Shoulder season for Sri Lanka would typically be considered as July-August when there is a lull in the monsoon season, but if you’re looking further ahead, then you might want some inspiration for Christmas and New Year. Whilst December is part of Sri Lanka's dry season, making it neither too hot nor too cold, whilst it is a great time to capture the tea plantations and cultural landmarks, we also suggest heading to Sri Lanka’s sun-drenched south coast (away from Galle), where along a winding track through lush jungle reveals and its incomparable seaside setting in Tangalle. Designed for blissful seclusion and natural exploration, this golden sand fringed beach with coconut palms is ideal for families with little ones eager to enjoy some winter sun and spot dolphins as they migrate to the warmer waters of Sri Lanka.

With news that is reinstating daily flights from Heathrow to Kuala Lumpur from October, there’s every reason to visit. The weather is pleasant as the hot and humid summer months ease up in autumn, with average temperatures ranging from 23 to 31 degrees Celsius. This makes sightseeing and exploring the city much more comfortable. We can arrange for a guide to show you some of KL’s most vibrant neighbourhoods and exciting street food scene, plus there is the wonderful mid-autumn festival in September and October, when the Chinese community in Malaysia, celebrate with lantern displays, mooncake eating, and traditional performances.

Continuing on our deep dive into Japan in autumn, it's also a great time to visit for the festivals. Jidai Matsuri is known as the Festival of Ages and takes place on 22nd October. It is one of the most famous festivals in Kyoto and this colourful procession features people dressed in costumes representing various periods of Japanese history, from ancient times to the Meiji era. For those keen to immerse themselves further, are able to organise Shodo classes - Japanese Calligraphy Workshops. You can learn about the art of writing with ink and brush, to create intricate, pictorial characters or highly detailed, precise works of scripture.

Japan is a bucket-list destination for many clients, and whilst the April and May blossom season is popular, October and November are arguably the best months to visit Japan for autumn foliage, with stunning reds, oranges, and yellows blanketing the mountains. At this time of year you can expect pleasant temperatures and fewer crowds compared to spring. Plus, we’re excited about Kyoto’s latest new hotel opening -
which opened earlier in the year. Although it’s a low rise development with 81 guest rooms and suites, the 1st and 2nd floor rooms have beautiful views over the ancient imperial city. The hotel is perfectly located near Myoho-in Temple, Kyoto National Museum and Sanjusangen-do Buddhist Temple which are all walkable from the hotel.

The luxury wilderness resort of in Sumba has long been a go-to for surfing and by late summer the seas are great for catching a wave. If all of that sounds too energetic, don’t miss the famous Sandalwood horses that majestically bathe in the Indian ocean each day and the hotel’s brand-new Nio Beach Club. It’s a uniquely vibrant oasis with cabana beds to catch the sea breeze. Guests can enjoy fish just caught from sea, delicious vegetables and legumes from its three abundant organic gardens or freshly made pizzas from their wood fired clay oven.

Istanbul is a vibrant city that's worth visiting any time of year. However, autumn offers a pleasant escape from the summer heat and the crowds are thinner. You can explore the city's iconic landmarks, such as the Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace, and Blue Mosque, without feeling rushed. has recently shared her recommendations for Istanbul with us on our website and highlights the trendy dining options in the Nisantasi neighbourhood, suggesting to treat your taste buds to the best lahmacun and indulge in the must-try kaymakli telkadayifi at Tatbak restaurant. For families who crave a little adrenaline-fuelled action, then you’ll need to get into first gear to see the F1 Singapore Grand Prix in September. It’s a night race held on the Marina Bay and is famous for being the first and only night race on the F1 calendar. It’s a fabulously exciting way to see the city, for adult children to enjoy a getaway with older parents or even a great half-way house for meeting up with family further afield in Australia and New Zealand. In terms of places to stay, of course, we love , once the General Post Office, which is within walking distance to the Marina Bay area.

Morocco has a diverse climate, but its shoulder season is February/March, which will actually coincide with Ramadan next year. We think this is a lovely time of year to visit; at this time it will be less busy and the springtime flowers are just starting to emerge so all the gardens are beautiful – expect to see an oasis of jacaranda and bougainvillaea, with their aroma carrying through on the breeze. You might also be lucky enough to still have snow on the tops of the Atlas mountains, visible from Marrakech.

We are able to put together a 5 night stay in Morocco for 2 people for just £2,600 per person, including car and driver at your disposal, international flights from London in economy class, 3 nights in Marrakech, 2 nights at
in the Ourika Valley, with breakfast, half day with private guide in Marrakech medina, plus entry to the@jardinmajorellemarrakech (part of the home of Yves Saint Laurent)
and Anima gardens. Do get in touch if this sounds ideal for you!

With many of us heading into peak-summer holiday mode, there are some who are also thinking slightly further ahead and recognising the value and enjoyment to be had by booking a trip during what the travel trade call “shoulder season”. This can be a great time to plan a break if you are not beholden to school holidays. It’s often slightly cooler for young children and older family members and also avoids the crowds of the most popular destinations. This month, we’re showing you how and where to make the most of shoulder season. From Morocco to Turkey through to Singapore and The Maldives.

If Morocco is on your list then you might have heard of the Atlas Mountains but might not realise what makes them so special. They separate the Sahara Desert from the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean; hence the name of the mountain range. They stretch around 2,500 km (1,600 mi) through Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia, and are renowned for their imposing size, especially at their pinnacle in the High Atlas where Morocco's seven highest peaks are all located. Jebel Toubkal is the highest peak in the whole of the Atlas Mountains and stands at a huge 4,167m.

Although the start of the Atlas Mountains is only about 40 miles from Marrakech, we work with a number of trekking lodges, Kasbahs, guesthouses and luxury mountain retreats so that travellers can experience this mesmerising landscape and Berber hospitality to the full.

Morocco offers so much more than a city break in one of the Imperial cities of Fez, Marrakech or Rabat. In fact, heading west from Marrakech, Essouraria is a charming coastal town for travellers seeking a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere, as part of their Moroccan experience.
The expansive sandy beaches of Essaouira and beyond are perfect for relaxation and water sports. Whether you're sunbathing, swimming, windsurfing, kiteboarding, or horseback riding along the shore. The consistent winds and rolling waves make Essaouira a haven for wind and water sports enthusiasts. If you’re looking for somewhere special to stay, we love the beautiful La Sultana in Oualidia for a tranquil escape and excellent fresh oysters.

“Best trip ever! Our trip through Wix was EPIC! A huge part of that was the amazing tour guides we had throughout the trip in India, especially Jay in Jaipur. They were all so attentive and knowledgeable and nothing was too much trouble. We did not have to organise anything, it was all taken care of by Wix Squared.

The hotels we stayed at were also impeccable with some of the best service I've ever seen. I can't sing the praises enough for the whole trip, it was so fun!” Photo credit:

By complete contrast to the dry, ochre-hued Northern Territory and tropical coast of Queensland, the southern cities of Australia offer a cosmopolitan buzz filled with cafe culture and gourmet discovery. Spend time with one of our local guides in Melbourne, who will help you find your bearings far away from the tourist crowds and explore the backstreets with small designer boutiques and hidden gems. In Sydney no visit is complete without taking a chartered yacht or ferry from the harbour. Join the locals for a coastal walk from Bondi to Bronte. Browse through one of the weekend markets in Hobart or Melbourne or take in an open air movie in Sydney’s Botanical Gardens. We love the fusion-food dining scene but for something extra special we can even arrange a barbeque on top of Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Australia is like nowhere else: a remarkable continent and a land of huge contrasts – untouched deserts, ancient rainforests, mystical Uluru, productive wine country, the mighty outback, the vast unknown interior, idyllic Barrier Reef Islands, cresting surf beaches and sophisticated cities. If you’re keen to visit the remote Northern Territory, then you’re in for a treat. It’s amazing that in 2024 you can still go off the beaten track with our network of guides and expert naturalists who can uncover parts of the outback, sharing their knowledge of the wildlife and ancient practices of the aboriginal people.

“Another fabulous holiday organised by Wix Squared . We took our four young adult children to the Constance Halaveli in the Maldives. What a wonderful time for all of the family. Plenty of activities and fun for us all and the kids had their own two story villa with a pool. All the stress of planning and travelling was taken care of by Alex and the team. Even when there was the threat of missing a connection Wix Squared beavered away, even through the night, to make sure we would make our flights, which we did. Thank you Alex, Sheena and the team. Can’t wait for an excuse to plan another trip.”

Whilst the coast of Sri Lanka and its adjoining beaches get a lot of attention, it’s easy to overlook Colombo, the bustling capital city. Explore the vibrant markets of Pettah, where you can immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and aromas of Sri Lanka, from spicy street food to gourmet dining experiences. Delve into the colonial backstreets of Colombo with a resident guide who can show you the way on foot and point out some of Geoffrey Bawa’s famous architecture. And then, venture further along the coast to Kalutara, a serene seaside town known for its iconic Kalutara Bodhiya and historic Richmond Castle. Pay homage to the sacred Bodhi tree, believed to be a sapling of the Sri Maha Bodhi in Anuradhapura, and explore the tranquil grounds of the temple

Sri Lanka is not only a winter sun destination. With opposing monsoons affecting different sides of the island, there is always a good time to visit Sri Lanka, so long as you know where to go. During the July/August summer season, many focus on the calm east coast beaches, the eastern hills (Ella/Demodera) and easterly regions (Gal Oya National Park), but southernly Bentota, Galle and Tangalle are exceptionally lush and vibrant, and also serve up plenty of hot sunny days.

There are a number of great offers available when booking 90 days in advance in Sri Lanka. We work closely with Teardrop Hotels and their seven boutique hotels. Swipe across to see The Wallawwa, an 18th-century manor house that was used as a base by Lord Mountbatten and his troops during World War Two. Thanks to Teardrop's extensive yet graceful renovation, it still looks and feels like a traditional governor's abode, but has been spiced up with modern design and furnishings.

There are a number of offers with Teardrop hotels comprising early booking discounts of 20% off is booking more than 90 days in advance and an amazing 50% if staying a second consecutive night at Wallawwa from 1st May 2024 to 13th December 2024 (excluding 01st July 2024 – 31st August 2024)
